7. Not really.....
... Afrin is a decongestant. Flonase is an anti-inflammatory steroid.

For folks with chronic sinusitus, it is a godsend. I will say however, that is seemed to work a lot better the first couple years I used it - now not so well. I think the next time I will switch to a different one, there are several similar products out there.

11. Yep...
... and its kinda expensive. But any doctor would probably prescribe it if you have any sinus issues - its seems like a pretty benign drug.

6. What's it do exactly?
I've used those Breath Right strips before bed a couple of times and those seem to help but I'm kind of put off paying 6 bucks for 12 little sticky plastic strips. Does Flonase and SINUcleanse sort of do the same thing with general clearing of congestion and helping breathing or are they for allergies and/or other ailments?

10. Flonase is a steroid..
... of the sort that reduces inflammation and promotes healing of inflamed tissues.

Folks who have allergy problems often fall into a condition where their sinuses never really heal up. They are constantly irritated and inflamed, hence congestion, headaches and other allergy symptoms.

Flonase (or any one of its several competing products) is a steroid (hormone-related) product that helps your body help itself. Once you get your sinuses in good shape again, it will also lessen your allergy problems in general - less inflamed tissues are less reactive to the allergen.

One thing I'd add for anyone using this stuff - it will not work as well if you are all congested when you apply it. Use some guifenisen (misspelled) or even better sinus irrigation first.
