1. I'm always slow to warm up to people.
People I either dislike or don't know well think I'm shy, but I'm not at all when there's a comfort level. :D

15. I'm pretty much the same way
I'm pretty reserved & quiet until I start feeling comfortable around people. Sometimes it takes a pretty long time for me to get to that level, but once I do I usually live up to my name. :silly:

2. I am a shy person
I am nervous around people who I don't know. This lifted a little bit in college, but for the most part, people would say that I am a shy person.

10. Yes.
People usually see me as gregarious and outgoing (and many point to my experience as a radio announcer as "proof"), but the reality is I'm a bit shy. Not very shy, but a bit shy. Sometimes I can approach people and just strike up a conversation, but other times, I just keep quiet.

11. I was an incredibly shy child
Now I'm very outspoken and confident (most of the time) and when I tell people that I was shy as a child - they laugh, they think I'm kidding. But I'm not; I even had a teacher tell my Mom that it was very disturbing that I never looked anyone in they eye. And I got "in trouble."

Hey LADY, (Mrs. Connors if you're out there) did ever occur to you that some kids are shy???

Believe me, having some right-wing nutjob scream at you will bring you out of your shell in a New York minute.

14. painfully shy as a child!
amazing how beer made shyness go away in college!

but now, 30 years later, i don't drink much anymore, and i'm still shy around people i don't know and in groups. i'm fine one-on-one or with people i know.

in groups, i sometimes deal with it by being the clown.

19. I'm antisocial.
A hermit.

I hate people, man, they freak me out. With their staring and questions. Especially when they ask questions. I hate questions.

You know, if I can't even look you in the face without turning redder than a tomato, you know, maybe I don't want you asking questions about my personal life.

When I do make friends, though, they are my life.

21. I was terribly shy, quiet and awkward around other people, afraid to
make friends until I hit college. Then I turned 180 degrees. Now my friends don't believe that I was EVER shy. I can still be embarrassed very easily, and sometimes I don't get the joke, but shy? Not any more...

:hi:
