I have just been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
I am in my 20's and I believe that I have had this since I was in my early teens. I am just relieved that there is a name to it and the people who called me lazy or a hypocondriac are wrong. Does anyone know how to deal with this condition? Are there any medications, vitamins etc to reduce the symptoms and encourage it to go into remission?

Thanks!

I don't think you can ask medical advice on DU, not permitted.

On Edit: I wish you all the best.

2. I am not asking for medical advice.
I am asking for coping advice. I would rather avoid drugs to deal with it and people could have recommendations.

4. Tons of information and forums on the internet.
I looked this up for a friend of mine and there was a great deal of info out there on the internet--and messageboards for support.

Lots of info about nutritional supplements, dietary, and similar stuff.

5. There's masses of info on the web
And I'll bet there are discussion boards on the subject, as well. Get googling, but read everything objectively, and consider the source. If they are trying to sell you something, hang on to your wallet and employ a critical eye!

7. I've got it too
There isn't a whole lot of stuff that works for me. Keep moving, stay as active as you can, keep gently stretching. There are lots of websites with info on fibro. There's a thread in the alternative healing and spirituality group on fibro and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Good luck!

8. Locking
DU, however well-meaning, just doesn't have the resources for medical advice. Please consult your doctor.

9. Had it for 40 years or more.
When I was a teen they called it "growing pains". In my 20's they called it "hypochondria". In my 40's they called it "getting old".

Now I'm turning 60 and it just doesn't bother me any more. I walk 3 to 5 miles a day and exercise to stay limber. I meditate every day and try to eat right. Over the years it has just faded into the background.

10. I have it too.
Proper sleep and gentle exercise helps. I've had it for decades and there has never been a remission for me anyway.

11. Some people have had excellent results by eliminating sugar
from their diet altogether.

Here's a good active messageboard with lots of information about fibromyalgia:
