Thong Underwear Thieves Busted With 228 Pairs

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Police in Connecticut said they've busted a pair of professional thong thieves.

Officers in Fairfield stopped Monica Barbosa and Anparo Cruz after their car ran a red light. Inside the car police found 228 pairs of thong underwear.

Authorities said the two also had other articles of clothing taken from stores like Victoria's Secret, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft and The Gap. According to police, the women had a booster bag that let them leave the stores without setting off the shoplifting alarms.

Police said the women stole nearly $8,000 worth of clothes. Police said they found bikini tops and bottoms, maternity dresses, maternity tops, corsets, women's tops, button-down shirts and a cashmere sweater.

Officers say when they contacted store managers, they had no idea the thongs had been swiped.
