Especially if you let someone else do the driving...It's a blood sport in Boston, I kid you not. My daughter and son-in-law live just outside Boston, and we let them drive us when we go, or else we use the public transportation...It is truly scary to see how people drive there: like MANIACS! The historical part of the city is small, and easily walked. We loved it. Take your camera and post some pics for those of us who can't be there...sigh...

When my husband and I went to the continent, Germany was our first destination. It was a fascinating tour with Globus..Our tour driver was an extremely well-educated lady who knew her stuff. My husband speaks some German, and we just had a ball...Someday we'll be back. Hope your workday goes well!

Now, as to where we went in Germany: Frankfurt on the Main, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Thuringia Forest, Wurzburg, Munich, Freiburg and then back up to Frankfurt. You could always tell when we entered and left the former Eastern part; the roads immediately went to hell on entering, and resumed their smoothness on leaving! But the country is so beautiful, green and full of incredible sights. One city we visited was ancient, and the streets had a running gutter with water that flowed from the mountains nearby; it functioned as the sewer system in the old days. Now I saw dogs drinking from it, and people using the now clean water to water their potted plants and so on. Fascinating...We tried to do too much, and now it's a blur. I took a lot of photos and notes, so I can look at all this and redo our trip...Wonderful country. I was amazed at how much was being written about the Holocaust, and what they can do to keep it from happening again.

I lived close to it some years, my mom still lives in this area. I am now in Frankfurt. Grew up in East Germany. Actually in Jena (Thüringer Wald). You've seen a lot. I know what you mean with the streets. But it got better over the years.

Yes, it is written a lot about the Holocaust. I myself read a lot about it. I think we are very sensitive about that topic. It is one thing that will always stick to us.
