Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone!
I love you guys! reprehensor printed off your nice thoughts for me to read this morning.

Well, I'm home from what had to be the longest night of my life.

I've always been healthy as a horse for the most part. Friday morning, I woke up feeling a little uncomfortable. I just thought it was indigestion, no big deal.

I kept thinking after a visit or 2 to the loo I'd be fine. But the sharp pains in my stomach weren't going away. I was wondering what I'd eaten to give me such horrible {{{product that we buy for our cars}}}.

Took some Pepto that night. Felt a little better Saturday morning. reprehensor and I were actually going to go to McKinney to do some antiquing, so I was in a great mood. Felt a little better, no big deal.

Suddenly, the pain got a bit more intense, and I was writhing around hurting a LOT. He brought me some more Pepto, and we decided to put off our plans for the day and just watch and wait.

Then, when the Pepto came back UP, we knew there was more to this than indigestion.

I went to the emergency room Saturday morning around 9, and had about a bazillion tubes of blood drawn, an IV put in, a catheter, an X-ray, a CT scan, a sonogram, and barfed some more after taking the disgusting barium stuff they give you to drink for the CT scan.

Finally about 3, the main doctor on call came in and told us the bad news. Definite irregularities with either one or both ovaries. They couldn't be sure, but it could be either ovarian cysts, a tumor, or the big C. {{{F*#@ F*#@ F*#@!!!}}}

They admitted me yesterday afternoon, and were waiting for the ob/gyn doctor on call to come take a look. They gave me some pain medicine when I got up there, so I started zoning out, and it sounded like things were going to lay low until the morning. Around 10:30 PM, the OB/GYN doctor came to see me, telling me she wanted to do a laparoscopy, which thrilled me to no end. /sarcasm

The last thing I remember was being wheeled into emergency. They gave me three incisions, which I didn't even notice until this morning. I got back to the room maybe around 2 AM, and they woke me every hour to check my temperature and blood pressure.

This morning, I was finally given the good news that I could eat something, since I hadn't eaten since Friday night, and they were afraid even to give me ice chips.

The doctor came to see both of us with the good news that they had gone in and done everything while I was under. I'd never had a problem with endometriosis, but there had been an endometrial cyst of some type (?), twisted around the ovary, and there was lots of old blood backed up all over in my abdomen.

So she nabbed an ovary, and I still have a bit of pain, but I'm definitely doing better.

So thanks again, ya'll. It meant a lot!
Fudge and family :D

Unfortunately, I-10 passes way south of us, through Houston and San Antonio. We're up east of Dallas.

But come visit some other time!

... but alas... too tight a timeline. We'll probably make a trip to Dallas sometime in the next few months. We'll try to hook up with you then.

37. Cool!
Let us know.

I'll be up around the midwest for two weeks at the beginning of June, but other than that, the summer is open. Lots of great local DUers to meet, and DeposeTheBoyKing and her hubby should be here permanently in another month or so.

27. yo baby, that is some nasty pain. I had one of those things at
about 33 years of age... you had a chocolate ovary didn't you? At least they were able to do it laproscopically, thanks to modern medicine. Mine was through a big ole incision.

I still had a daughter two years after that!

Glad you are on the mend and hope you continue to improve.

That's exactly what she called it. Chocolate. You HAVE been there, huh?

Thanks for the pat on the back! Moving is a mite uncomfortable, but Darvocet rules.

I have three teeny incisions. One below my bellybutton, and two playing shortstop on either side.

41. WOW. We just learned the news five minutes ago!
ginbarn asked me to send you her love. She's a survivor of Stage IV ovarian cancer who was given only a 10% chance of survival when she was diagnosed 20-odd years ago. She tells me that she's too ornery to go down that easy.

If we weren't sick ourselves, we'd bring you breakfast in bed. Take care of yourself, cookays! We're definitely sending positive vibes to you, reprehensor, and Fargo.

to the extent that commiseration helps, I've been there (emergency hysterectomy). Although your surgery wasn't as extensive, you'll be surprised, as the days go on, at how much it takes out of you. Take your time healing, and don't push.
