My name is aquaman, I am an Ansel Adams addict....
my wife says I have an Ansel Adams problem as I spend stupid money on signed items. Our house is like an Ansel Adams museum, so my wife says.

I don't know who took this picture, Ansel is on the right. I emailed one of his relatives about this picture and he was not sure about the story behind the picture.

6. I'm married to a large-format photographer
And frankly, her stuff is better than Ansel Adams'.

He was good. A genius, really.

But there are some who came after who are truly inspired.

7. sure, but one has to admit...
the pic above, and much of adam's stuff, is very delicate for its time, check the values, its not easy shooting straight into an open sky full of sunlight and still rend tone on this side of your subject.

:hi:

29. There's a printing technique called 'dodge and burn'
I actually believe that Adams could've brought out a lot more detail in Half Dome. As it stands, the background looks washed-out and lacks in contrast.

Nowadays, you can do it so easily using advanced Photoshop tools, the photo enlarger has just about become obsolete.

But that's just me.

15. You're welcome
I definitely 'married up' in this relationship.

Glad you like her work, too. It really is amazing.

I'm good with words, but what she does with imagery is inspired, IMHO.

best,

Drop her a line, if you care to. There's a non-linked email addy on the home page, near the bottom. I think she'd love to get some positive feedback.

cheers!

As for the other, I don't know about your 'witch', but I'm of the female variety myself.

While other girls my age were playing with dolls, I was repairing tube televisions and radios. ;)

A pleasure meeting you!
