I was up at the crack of dawn (for a Saturday anyway!) this morning to take the kids for eye checkups. Both of them had been complaining of not being able to see the board at school. Yes indeed, both of them now need glasses. My daughter sees this as a fashion statement, and is quite excited. My son said "Oh great. Now I'll be a dork."
My poor Aspie son who can't stand plain water in his eyes was certain he was being killed when they put the drops in to dilate him. "It burns! It burns!"
She was bummed about it (she's 7) at first but realized she sees a lot better with the glasses, so now it is acceptable. The first couple of days were kind of tense, however, when we waited to hear any negative comments from classmates.
She got glasses last week for reading only. Of course she picked the most fashionable pair she could find. At this point she has no problem wearing them but let's see how she does two months from now. I wish you luck.
