A serious post: I used to love to "shake my booty"
When I was younger, I would go dancing every night if I had the chance. I was the blonde John Travolta, without that corny crap everyone does when they imitate him. Anyway, in the last few years, I have not really wanted to go dancing. Does anyone over 40 still like to shake their butt ? I'm not talking about line dancing or formal ballroom type dancing, but just shaking your ass to a live band or good canned music.

1. I'm 58 and will always love to dance
... but I know what you mean. After I got to be about 50 I sort of lost interest in having music constantly playing around me. I attributed it to hormones and lack thereof. I notice my "natural rhythm" isn't so rhythmic anymore.

2. It seems everyone I know over 40 is half dead
Forget dancing. More like see a movie and go eat and go home early.

5. Hey, man, I'm 47 and I still boogie whenever I get the chance...
I know what you mean, most people I know that are my age don't dance anymore. I say, forget them, I go at least once week to a club where the band plays kickass covers from the 70s and 80s, just good soul/funk/r&b and I dance my ass off for 3 and half hours right there with the college kids...

Never give up the funk... gotta have that funk!

9. Yes and yes.
Well, the club that I go to has such a great band that everybody kind of dances whether the're with somebody or not. But, I've found there's typically some other like-minded dancer that I usually end up dancing with... I've danced with people 10 years or more my senior as well as 19 year old college kids.

The key for me was this: find a great band in a great club, and you'll always find people who love to dance.

11. Just remember what the great Duke Ellington said...
"It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing."

Keep the groove alive, man...

3. I love to dance, but mostly my husband doesn't.
So I dance around my study, with the blinds down, to some really incredible classical guitar music playing away! I can almost see myself with a rose in my teeth, and castanets overhead in my hands! It doesn't work because I need to breath with my mouth open, and my arthritic shoulders won't work! But the music still moves this old dame!

13. I used to love to dance as well - however, I think I've forgotten how to
'move'. I feel too embarrassed to try now.

14. shameless brag here
A few years ago (when I was 43 or 44 or so) I danced with a pretty young lady who may have been 23 or 25. She said " You are the GROOVEMONSTER !". I loved it !!!!!!! Made my night and I didn't even get laid.

15. Love to dance, but do it rarely
Mostly because:

1) No one to go with and I'm not fond of going to bars and such alone.

2) While I love live music and love to dance, I'm also hyper sensitive and the musice tends to wear me out for the next day.
