Chiropractors......Legitimate or Quacks?

Are Chiropractors legitimate or are they quacks?

1. I have never been to a chiropractor, but I have

friends who swear by them, so I can't pass judgement one way or the other on the effectiveness of the treatment.

However, I used to be friends with a husband/wife couple who became chiropractors, and they were pretty far out there. Once invited me for dinner on New Years Eve, and as the evening wore on they put a chiropractic propaganda tape in the VCR featuring Peter Graves solemnly informing me that all of the world's problems can be traced to spinal disorders - tape ended with an image of an atom bomb going off. I couldn't get out of there fast enough, and never saw them again.

2. The chiropractor medical theory/education is pure "QUACK" - but they

are spot on in the need to cure by touching.

The real Doctors went into a "respect privacy" do not touch patient mode for a while - which was a big mistake.

Indeed many Real MD's use chiropractors for the people skills and indeed their touching skill. How much better than a massage is a toss-up, but insurance companies will pay for the chiro-massage, while they will not pay for "massage"

You have to admire a profession that 10 years after founding, with its "science" totally disproven, is able to continue on for the next 100 years via political pressure on state legislators!
