7. Damn! Can I eat at your house? That sounds GOOD!
Ma used to make her own gnocci. We kids would help her mix and stuff them with cheese, spinach and pine nuts.

11. It would be a long trip.................
Although I get to SD from time to time, well, Pendleton to be more specific. I had gnocchi for the first time - I'm so ashamed - at age 40, when we moved to New York. I love the stuff. I get Truffle Oil from Trader Joe's. I can get Truffles, but they're damn pricey. The Seafood and Pork are whatever's good when I'm out shopping. We're fortunate enough to have a first class Italian grocery store in Gaithersburg, MD of all places, but Trader Joe's is the best place to get high quality stuff at low low prices.

12. mmmmm....
I want to go back to Rome. Eat at La Piccolo Arancia - it's on this little alley off the Trevi Fountain. They have tables outside, and serve the most wonderful orange-scented ravioli. Or the Penne Arabiata at La Buca di Ripetta - just off the Piazza del Popolo.

Oooh - or in Florence. There's an osteria on a side street by the train station where the menu is written on a chalk board and no one speaks any english. I had an excellent avocado and zucchini salad, followed by panne pomodoro - which is basically mushy bread with tomatoes. It was excellent. Then for dessert - a banana torte with hot chocolate sauce.

Right across from St Peter's Square in Vatican City there's this place that looks just like a generic fast food joint, but they serve the best pizza margheritta.

15. Gnocchi alla Panna,
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 04:30 PM by fudge stripe cookays
Bread with olive oil and balsamic for dipping, Sausage and polenta, and a thick, disgustingly rich Tiramisu.

And don't forget a big ole bottle of Bardolino!

One of my favorite meals of all time was at Il Bargello on Piazza Signoria in Florence, right across from the Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizzi and all the other monuments. One of the most amazing days of my life.

18. Hm.
Start with a simple antipasto of raw veggies, salt, and olive oil. Next comes sweet potato gnocchi dressed with butter, fresh peas, and some pecorino. For my meat, I'd like a nice medium-rare veal rib chop, please. Or a rosemary-encrusted pork tenderloin with a rosso di montepulciano reduction. Dessert will be a 375 ml bottle of good vin santo. I'm full enough that I don't need any more solid food.

Either that, or just give me a gigantic portion of bollito misto; and don't even THINK of serving me anything but the finest bottle of Barolo in your cellar. ;)

25. No. Sorry.
Open, well-known cruelty, the torture of animals, existing only to provide a specific type of luxury is not even food chain related.

Then, to make light of it...

Yeah, doesn't say much at all.

27. Absolutely.
Fact is, some folks feel that they NEED eggs or chicken. I can respect unenlightened decisions. I respect the rights of folks to make those decisions. However, veal is a no-brainer. If you understand the cruelty behind it, yet take part, you advocate it.

BTW, check my screen name...flVEGAN.

Same thing.
Are you flaming the others in this post who said that they like veal? I'm sure they are aware of the conditions. I just spoke my mind and it enraged you.
C'mon.

I replied to the OP, you. I'm not flaming anyone, as my posts have been nothing but civil and respectful, thank you very much.

Show me my posts suggesting I'm enraged, please. This is discussion, and you have become defensive.

I can't respond specifically you this most recent post of yours "so you are like anti-choice/furry animals" as I don't know specifically what you mean by it.

C'mon to you, now. Where were we...

30. It's a calorie bomb
I love Italian food. It was hard to choose one meal, that's for sure. The runner-up choice would have to be gnocchi.

Bruschetta
Green salad with shaved parmesan, pears, and walnuts
Spaghetti Carbonara, my husband's recipe
Tiramisu

Of course, I would also be looking for a nice Pinot Noir to go with my meal. I can't believe that wine pretenders everywhere saw "Sideways" and are proclaiming love for PN that they used to have for Merlot.

Did I mention that I also love pizza?

And will still adore it even after I go see Sideways, which I still haven't seen yet.
