I also like Ess-a-Bagel in East Midtown near where I work.

Everything else pales by comparison.

Once upon a time, I lived in the far upper reaches of Manhattan, but my spouse at the time worked two blocks from H&H's original store. He'd come home on a Saturday or Sunday morning from his night shift with a bag of still-warm bagels. Omigod they were great!

Fairway has the best bagels. Don't know where they get them but they're great, especially the everything bagels.

... had a still-hot H & H bagel slathered with cream cheese at 3:30 am after a late night out in Manhattan. I can still taste it... 15 years later! mmmmmmmmm!

They're good regardless but getting a fresh one makes them the clear winner.
