Whoever said last night/this morning that things were getting odd around
here was right. :(

Can't we all just get along, despite our differences? It's what used to make this country so great. There are many here that hold wildly differing opinions and ideas from me that I absolutely adore (and you all know who you are).

I don't get brought down often, but I've got to say that tonight I'm there.

Save MrsGrumpy, paste a smile on.

1. If I like Oasis better than the Beatles, why should anyone else get mad?
I may have differences with the rock establishment traditionalists, but I would not personally attack them

4. See, here's the thing. You and I rarely agree on anything.
And yet I still respect and admire you greatly.

3. Amen, Mrs. Grumpy! We don't all have to agree on everything to

be Democrats and agree on most things.

5. Sweetie - I always revolt when things are shoved in my face.
Misguided is misguided. It isn't malice so much as it is "don't tell me what to do or think." Please don't read too much into it. I mean no disrespect to true Christians. It's the neo-cons who have hijacked religion that I am mocking. I speak only for myself, though.

7. Oh no. It's not that. That is quite hysterical. It's a big bunch of things
that we all seem to be screaming at each other over lately. ;)

I'm not particularly religious, except I'd be labeled a Christian because I believe Jesus existed in a human sense if not a spiritual sense. And I think he was pretty cool.

No, it's not that at all, baby.

6. Well I wouldn't want to make you unhappy
but when SOME people start using THEIR religious beliefs as a means of depriving other women of medications, *MY BALLS* get a little frosted.

While I would NOT force a professional to do something against their conscience, I think a pharmacologist who has an issue with birth control pills should go work in a pain clinic and dispense opoids.

It gets under my skin a bit to see women's reproductive health issues treated like fringe.

9. And it's not even that, nsma. I guess it's the way we handle it these days
In that situation, I could see both sides of the argument. That's what I was trying to point out with the LTTE posts and my own personal experience with my doctor. Everyone here should know by now that I am all for changing laws to see that this kind of stuff doesn't happen. It's just I cannot cut a person off at the knees, and I seem to be on the verge of doing that more and more often.

And I completely agree with your statement on Pharmacy. It is also imperative that we reform the ethical educations of pharmacists.

Nothing is fringe when it's important to somebody. That's why we have voices.

11. while I can see why it would get to you and it does get to me
I'm not afraid of a little controversy. I don't expect people to agree like pablum, but sometimes I wish we didn't have a rule about civility and respect. People who would barter off my rights are not deserving of my respect and..well..there's nothing civil about them trading off my rights.

8. I saw it last night... haven't been on much today...
but I can't get along with people who use religion as a weapon, if it's what you are referring to... I just can't.

10. No. I'm referring to a lot. That would perhaps be just part of it.

For what it's worth, religion isn't and never will be my life. But, being raised a Catholic, I can see the moral dilemmas that many Catholics can find themselves in.

12. I completely understand the moral dilemmas...
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 09:19 PM by Misunderestimator
however, when it comes to a pharmacist refusing to fill prescriptions for birth control medication, my understanding ends.

On edit... There are many things I do in my job that are required, that I do not feel should be done... I offer my opinion, and if my opinion is rejected, I do my job as it is defined. If I did not do that, my employer has every right to let me go. Why should it be different for a pharmacist? If anything, the standards should be applied even more to that job than to mine, since mine does not affect anyone's health or safety.

I have had limited time on DU this week, and only have seen your responses in the same thread as mine, so I made an assumption. Sorry if it was the wrong one.
