12. That never worked for me.
The AAA office was often busier than the DMV.

4. nuthin
When I lived in Chicago it was over an hour waiting in line. Now its a 10 minute wait at most and its in the neighborhood. A very easy errand now.

5. no why?
I was thinking about going and insist that they replace my peeling, beat-up license with a real license instead of just mailing a sticky-on from time to time. But I'm afraid it would just make 'em mad.

6. I had to go there in 2002 for the first time in 12 years
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 05:55 PM by slackmaster
Here in California if you are under age 70 and have no blemishes on your record, you have to go to the DMV for renewal only if it's been 10 years or more since your last DL photo was taken. Otherwise you renew by mail every four years.

I haven't had a citation in almost 20 years. O8)

10. I wouldn't like that.
What if you got stuck with a HORRIBLE picture for 10 years?

13. Is having a horrible picture for 10 years worse than going to the DMV?
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 06:36 PM by slackmaster

I guess it depends on how horrible.

A friend of mine had his taken at age 18. He bore a remarkable similarity to Charles Manson with long hair at the time. It was pretty funny after college when he had cut his hair to "business" style and had to produce that ID as proof of age.

Imagine showing someone a driver's license with this picture at a job interview:

14. It might be.
My current driver's license picture was taken shortly after my 10 lb, 9 oz son was born. I was still puffy, and I had colored my hair drastically different from my normal hair color.

I'd as soon not keep that one for ten years. ;)

7. I renew my tabs on line, takes 2 minutes. I hate the DMV.

On edit: I just realized my license expires 12-18-05, which means I'll have to make a trip this year. CRAPOLLA.

8. Had to do a tag renewal and a change of address
in January. It wasn't too bad, there is a little Secretary of State office tucked in a mall in Jackson, MI. and I was only third back in line.

15. Today, in fact.
Lost my wallet, have a name change too, so it had to be done eventually anyway.

Quick and painless.
