with JJ and all, but it's still just damn confusing. How does it work that a one way from seattle to baltimore is cheap, but a one way from boston to seattle costs almost as much as a round trip from seattle to boston?(this all from the same site too) :crazy:

16. It depends on availability of the flight

On any given aircraft there are several price levels. Even when you exclude business and first class there are still many price levels.

For an economy seat, they might have 2 seats available for people flying on points, 6 seats at $100, 6 seats at $125, 6 seats at $150 etc. The cheaper seats might be booked up already on your return flight. Try the next day. If you have a flexible schedule, you can save a lot of money.

Northwest has a thing on their site where you can enter a multiple city trip. I entered seattle to baltimore and boston to seattle and got a better price than it will cost me from detroit.
