Anyone who's going to Boston in April interested in a little Museum tour?
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 05:43 PM by Longgrain
Especially if you're not as familiar with everything Bean-town has to offer as some of us are.

We can meet in front of the Museum of Fine Arts, say 9:00 A.M., spend a few hours there, then maybe heard over to the Gardner Museum (it's only a short walk away), then, if it's a nice day, we could take a walk down Newbury St. and maybe do some gallery hoping there, before heading over to Cambridge. (And if there's still time, there's also the Fogg Museum on the Harvard Campus).

We'll probably, of course, stop for lunch at some point, perhaps either at the Museum or somewhere on Newbury street.

So what do you say, anyone interested...

2. I wish I was going.
I love the Museum of Fine Arts. the galleries on Newbury took entire days for me when I was last there but I have never seen the Gardner or the Fogg. I wish I could be there, have a great time.

4. If I were going I would.
Last time I was there I didn't go to any museums (actually never left my "friend"'s apartment). I just can't afford it right now.
What really sucks (in ref to travel)-I work part time in a for a nationally known motel chain and can get a room anywhere for $25.00 per night.

5. Ooh! Seriously, could you get ME a room in Boston for that weekend...
For that price. It's beginning to look like I might have to stay for more than one day...

6. I wish I could
but I don't see how you can pass for a 5'2 redhead w/ a MO accent and an Italian name (I have to show id-we tried for my parents once).

9. I work for this corporation
that owns 7 different motel chains and they are names you would recognize. I have worked for them for 2 years (along w/ my full-time job). My daughter and I used to take trips all the time-get in the car and drive and, when we reached our destination, we would stop at the first in the chain that we found and rent a room. My parents used to do it too but a year ago they changed it all over d/t employee abuse (which is bull). I still get the discount but it can change w/ availability (if it is a busy day, they can refuse it and I can no longer rent more than one room-I also have to show my id now). It really sucks!
But, if you ever have to travel to the KC area, I can still pull strings and get people rooms for the $25.00 rate (under the table).

14. And I have no plans for Boston.
I have to go to Milwaukee and will stop in Chicago this summer and then I am supposed to go to Washington state at the end of the summer (all family). This fall I have to go to LA for a wedding so back East is not an option for another year or so.
Too bad. I really would like the museum tour.

23. Too many travel plans in the next year.
I've already had to cancel a trip to Toronto-another friend getting married. Seems I'm the only one holding onto singledom.

10. You're a college student right?
I don't know if it's still in effect, but when I was a student, admission to the MFA was free for students...

(If not, I might be able to spot a couple of you)

11. yeah it's free
But it's lunch I worry about...looking at fine art has the effect of stimulating my stomch, oddly.
The Fogg is great though! Right by Havahd.

15. *high five* for this idea
I have not gone to ANY of Boston's Art museums, and I feel like a shitty artist as a result. I haven't even gone to Fogg and it's on my way to class :(

18. Actually when I was a college student, I never made it far beyond
The Fenway and the south end of Huntington Ave.

But I still know how to move around Boston...

Now Cambridge, that's another story...
