LIPSTICK TRACES

Don’t you love Rhythm and Blues? What a sound! They are so smooth, so cool, so got it together. What style. You have to admire and appreciate the sound. Never gonna happen again in our lifetime. The Amazing Rhythm Aces singing songs like this:

Your pretty brown eyes your wavy hair
I look for you, you're not there
I got it bad like I told you be fore
I'm so in love with you
Don't leave me no more

Lipstick traces on a cigarette
Every memory lingers with me yet
I got it bad like I told you be fore
I'm so in love with you
Don't leave me no more
Won't you come on home
Just come on home
I'm so crazy about you, I can't live without you
Baby won't you come on home

Your pretty brown eyes your wavy hair
I look for you, you're not there
I got it bad like I told you be fore
I'm so in love with you
Don't leave me no more

Lipstick traces on a cigarette
Every memory lingers with me yet
I got it bad like I told you be fore
I'm so in love with you
Don't leave me no’more

1. R&B is still out there -- and it's worth the hunt. nt

2. I like this one.
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.

I was a little too tall
Could've used a few pounds
Tight pants points hardly reknown
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high

Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy
Workin' on mysteries without any clues
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to make some front page drive-in news
Workin' on our night moves
In the summertime
In the sweet summertime

We weren't in love, oh no, far from it
We weren't searchin' for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
Livin' by the sword
And we'd steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, to the alley or the trusty woods
I used her, she used me
But neither one cared
We were gettin' our share
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to lose the awkward teenage blues
Workin' on our night moves
And it was summertime

And oh the wonder
We felt the lightning
And we waited on the thunder
Waited on the thunder

I awoke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closing in

3. The Amazing Rhythm Aces didn't do that song first

The original "Lipstick Traces" was recorded by New Orleans R&B singer Benny Spellman in 1962. (Previously, Spellman had provided the bass voice on Ernie K-Doe's #1 hit, "Mother-In-Law.")

In 1965, the O'Jays remade "Lipstick Traces," taking it to #28 on the R&B charts and #48 on the pop charts.

And yes, it is indeed a great song! :toast:
