3. It's googles answer to hotmail.
It's not a bad service. Message me if you'd like to try it.

7. clean interface
miniscule text ads (not irritating pics/animated gifs/flash), full searchability using google's proprietary technology, grouping of emails in terms of conversations, etc.

furthest thing from hotmail. i just really like the clean interface.

4. Quick question about invites....
How do you get those? I have a gmail account, but I've never been given the opportunity to hand out invites to sign up.

5. There's a box
on the bottom left corner of your gmail Inbox. That's where 'they' put the number of invites you have.

I think I had gmail for a couple of weeks till I noticed the "50" invites.

10. maybe you've not had gmail long enough?
it's called "invite friends" just below the "labels" box and the "contacts" box. Click on the arrow for the box to 'open'

11. I've been trying to use it as much as possible.
I don't want to change my default email, but I'd like to get invites.

Just so I'm cool like that...

13. It's a random thing I think ...(?)
from Googles Gmail help page.

Gmail gives users the ability to invite friends to sign up for Gmail accounts. If you don't happen to see a blue 'Invite a friend' box in your account, please be patient -- Gmail invitations are always randomly distributed.

If you have the ability to invite friends to try out Gmail, you'll see the 'Invite a friend' box on the left side of your Gmail account. Just enter your friend's email address in the text box, and click 'Send Invite' to instantly send an invitation. If the person you're sending an invitation to is in your Contacts list, Gmail will auto-complete his or her email address for you. And finally, if you'd like to look at the invitation you're about to send, click 'preview invite.' While previewing the invite, you can also personalize the message that will be sent to your friend.

If you should run out of invitations, you'll no longer see the option to invite more friends to create Gmail accounts. For now, we can't give you more invites, even if you ask nicely or offer to tattoo Gmail on some part of your body. (You'd be amazed at what people will offer for a Gmail invitation.) Gmail may, however, randomly grant invitations to your account as they become available in the future.
