Be prepared to say AWWWWWWW! (Pet Pics)

This is a rare shot of all three of our pets (Lucy, Dante, Whiskers)in the "coma inducing ray" that we humans call the sun. They try to resist it's mighty pull and it's ability to render them unconscious but they cannot!

We love it - peace and quiet (unless it's meal time) for however long the sun lasts!

4. Pretty much
When I adopted her we knew very little about her background but she seemed OK w/ the dachshund I had at the time (2 dachshunds ago). She freaked out when we brought the beagle home - I don't know if it was because she was used to only having one dog around or because she was too old to adjust but through the years (6 now) they've reached peace.

She seems to have a soft spot for dachshunds though and still prefers to cuddle up w/ Dante even though he's the youngest and most likely to jump on her (to try to get her to play.) Maybe it's stimulus generalization. He looks just like the first dog we had when we got her.

3. I have a dog like Dante....
we also have a long hair, who tortures our cat, so we could never get a picture like this... They are cute though

6. I always wanted two doxies!
But the hubby likes beagles so we have one of each. Dante used to torture her but she's too stubborn to be run off for long and in the sun all three seem to be able to reach truce.

7. Yeah...
the short hair loves the cat, but the long hair, a full size we rescued a little over a year ago, wants to get too personal with the cat, so she hides all day...

9. When you say "Too personal"
Do you mean - tries to mate? Because the original doxie we had when we got Whiskers used to do that to her. (He was never neutered - long story but now I know better!) All my friends used to make fun of him when he tried to do that and I'd say, "Maybe if you never had sex in your whole life, species wouldn't be that important to you."

Gee, I hope this thread doesn't get locked.

11. George Carlin
I saw George Carlin perform once and he talked about the holiday card he and his wife sent out. They took a picture of their male dog trying to hump their male cat and labeled it "Peace on Earth" or something like that. (Hey, can't we all just get along?)

13. No
no more like play tag... he wants her to play along like another dog, and since he is a full size, he is about 15 pounds bigger then the cat. Since the other dog had been around the cat since he was a puppy, they get along. But the full size was 7 when we rescued him, so she hasn't had a breaking in period where she was the bigger animal...

5. What a beautiful kitty!
I love orangies with white markings. For some reason, they are usually very affectionate.

(The dogs are cute too -- but I'm definitely a cat person.)

8. Yeah, she's cute but we've had our problems w/ her...
When we got the beagle (6 years ago) she started peeing in the living room to "voice" her displeasure. Now she's fine w/ the dog but she's never stopped peeing. We've tried EVERYTHING - scat mats, cleaners, deep steam cleaning, chemicals treatments, "natural treatments, you name it. Now the room is blocked off by plywood while I try to find a carpenter to install French doors. Grrrr. The most expensive free cat I ever got!

But she has turned out to be really affectionate - that took years, though. She was really skittish when we adopted her. But now my m-i-l lives w/ us and Whiskers is her best friend! So, I guess she's worth it but I sure wish she'd stay out of the living room!!

15. very adorable. I have always had dachsies and cats. They really
get along good. Now I have five dachsies. The ones that don't fit in the sun rays usually lay along the heater. They are so cold-blooded.

20. Five! That's great - you'll have to share pics sometime
And yes they love warmth. I used to have one who was so cold-blooded that he would actually sleep on the stabilizing pan of the kerosene heater.

18. if I got a dog, it would be a doxie. Is that a standard doxie?
Looks too big to be a mini or a toy. You don't see the standards too much around here; mostly minis or toy...my aunt and uncle had a full size one that was an absolute clown. Looked just like yours.

They are very sweet fun loving dogs.

Like the cat too, I have four of those!

23. Yes, he's a standard
I've always had standards - five in a row since I was a kid. They're small enough to be "portable" but still hardy and have the personality of a much larger dog.

They are sweeties but also brave to the point of rashness (that's in the breed standard) and really good little watch dogs.

22. Our four fight over the sunny spots.
And I mean fight, we have hissing matches when the sun hits certain areas of the house.

25. We don't have fights as much as each trying to out maneuver the others
The scheming and positioning can be a riot to watch. The "losers" just sigh and go lay on one of the many beds we have.
