One of my 6-day old foster kittens is very sick
Apparently he got an URI from his Mommy. I took them all to the vet this morning and he was not reassuring. He basically said that it could spread to all of the kittens or not. They could live or not. Nice, huh?

At least the rescue group I work with is more helpful. They are going to help me give the sick one fluids, formula and medication.

I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I'm very attached to these kittens and I want them to get healthy.

1. Poor little guy :(
Do you have another vet in the area you could go to instead?

I'm sending good kitty vibes your way though :(

5. I'm using the vet that the rescue group uses
Luckily one of the rescue workers is a vet technican and she is sending someone over to medicate the kittens.

and the clavamix finally kicked in... took about 8 days tho. i also gave him pills for the sneezing which helped... trust me, the fluid-giving and pill pushing becomes MUCH easier after about 3 or 4 days, i'm a practical pro at it now.

so don't worry, your kitty well get better soon!

i'm wishing him well!

9. my baby girl had a shot of that and a couple days more at home.....
...I just KNEW she was dying but she fought it off....it will probably be contagious as my boy had it first but fought it off w/o meds....gave this little girl steam baths and facial massages to help clear out the congestion...but she's fine now....good luck and take extra special care o'those babies.

4. Yes, will pass on my thoughts and prayer to you prozacnation. It is great
you are working with the foster agency. Love animals and some of them go through some rough times. They are wonderful to have around. I trust them better than people. Hope all goes well for you and the kitten.

7. best of luck....
I'll be thinking about you and your kittens. As an absolutely dedicated cat lover, I'd like to thank you for working with rescues. With lots of care the sick kitten might pull through-- keep him hydrated, warm, and on antibiotics. Stimulate him often by stroking or wiping him, and of course encourage him to pee and defecate. One of my rescues was a sick 18 hour old kitten whose feral mother abandoned him-- he should not have survived the night when I brought him in, but he lived the life of Riley for another 15 years. Good luck!
