I've been waiting to post this all night. PLEASE EXCUSE ME
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 02:11 AM by Faye
Please excuse my need to post these lyrics. I know it's getting old, every Saturday night, me drunk, posting lyrics.

BEST SONG EVER EVER EVER EVER. Read and think of what is happening now and where this country may be in 7 years if things don't change soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Artists > VNV Nation > Honour

(quote from FDR): I have seen blood running from the wounded.
I have seen children starving.
I have seen the agony of
mothers and wives. I hate war..............

Passive field, January two thousand and twelve.
A nation that stands alone.
Cold voices, faces pale, gathered unto their judgment day.

Such pride remains unbroken.
Such words remain unspoken.
Just mothers to stand in vain and cry.
Tears and medals in the rain.

Shall I recall when justice did prevail?
No reason to be found why reason did fail.
The all clear resounding.
The way was clear to rebuild this land.

Shall I call on you to guide me well,
To see our hopes and dreams fulfilled?
On this day of our ascension.

Stand your ground, this is what we are fighting for.
For our spirit and laws and ways.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.
For heaven or hell we shall not wait.

Shall I think of honour as lies
Or lament its aged slow demise?
Shall I stand as a total stranger
On this day in this stone chamber?

The all clear resounding.
The way was clear to rebuild this land.
Shall I call on you to guide me well.
To see our hopes and dreams fulfilled.
On this day of our ascension
ON THIS DAY, WE PRAISE THE FALLEN.

Stand your ground, this is what we are fighting for.
For our spirit and laws and ways.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.
For heaven or hell we shall not wait.

Shall I think of honour as lies
Or lament it's aged slow demise?
Shall I stand as a total stranger
On this day in this stone chamber?

i even have a link for you to listen to the song:

2. How touching
Most Americans don't even admit we're sending our kids to die. See at www.icasualties.org Republicans honor the deaths completely but it will be a cold day in hell before they'll let their kids go over there.

I know. I have a co-worker who votes GOP and stands tall about our troops over there. But she won't send her son. She's got the money to support him and his hobbies. She thinks the military is a good avenue for the "less fortunate" to give themselves a lift in life. Let them die, but not her boy.

:(

In a face a view, through eyes this world collides.
I am voiceless in my angst
And nothing can take us back to innocence.
Short, sharp, bloodlust reality.
In despair I reach for night

In water purity reigns to be resolute.
As a land we clean our minds, reap our belongings
Sew our angers and our strengths.
All too obsessed by weakness
We have brought ourselves to meaninglessness.

So easy to control, bring to harm.
A gathering of fools unjustified, on a mountain.
I collect my thoughts
And I rise above all that despises me.

Comprehend the ways of man and under a flag
We salute or burn, there is blood on both shores.
With hardened mind I traveled, with hardened heart I conquered
a freedom so ironic, so despicable, so hypocritical.

There is anger resolute.
Rears its familiar head on the TV screen.
In a dozen bags a life was placed.
In a breath he smiled and waved.

For five minutes at a time the power held true.
Without consternation our laws are lost.
Lost to butchers, lost to child killers, lost to narcotic ritual.
Another tag, another headline.
Another smiling face shall stay 10 winters long forever.

And where are the angels to guard?
Where is the god of men and children?
He is stalking the minds of dark poor souls.
I know it's right because I know it's time for freedom:

To kill another and to kill another
And to kill another child of the flag
Till there are none left... and another,
And to kill another, and to kill another...

Gaze upon what you've become
And take a look at what you've done.
You'll repent for what you've done
Raping my daughter, raping my son.

FUCK YOU BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. if i may add to those great words....
I, also, am drunk on saturday night and I, for one, really appreciate you posting that. I've posted these same lyrics before but, with your permission, I'll post them again to continue the theme. I'm not sure the group had war in mind when writing this, but you can bet for f... sure I think of our people when I listen. "Like Spinning Plates" by Radiohead:

While you make pretty speeches,
I'm being cut to shreds
You feed me to the lions,
a delicate balance

And this just feels like spinning plates
I'm living in cloud cuckoo land
And this just feels like spinning plates
My body is floating down the muddy river

7. same with this band.
so many songs that are DEFINATELY about war, so many other songs that seem to be about war. The crazy thing is, most of these songs were written BEFORE Bush was pres., but goddamn, i swear he is a prophet........................or he's just singing of things from the past that just won't stop happening today...........

i wonder, if we will ever learn.

8. exactly...
fuck if i'm not about to yell at the tree in my backyard because it's 2 o' clock in the morning and I hate my neighbors because they're rethugs but i feel like yelling at something because in Iraq it's morning and thousands upon thousands of our best and brightest and two of my good friends are about to shoot and get shot at and I'm so fucking angry about that that I want to hurt something that's not a person or an animal or a plant so i think i'll throw my shitty acoustic against the wall even though i realize that that won't make me feel better but maybe, just maybe, if we all threw a shitty acoustic guitar against the wall at the same time it would be enough of a noise to shut chimpy the hell up.

F'n hell, I hate that chimp.

one day the noise will deafen them.

one day, we will be heard.

one day, justice will prevail again.

at the end of whatever it is that begins in 2012.

Good will overcome evil.

The light will shine on us all. I believe.

6. let us not forget. another version of the song
includes parts of FDR's speech:

I have seen blood running from the wounded. I have seen men coughing out their gassed lungs. I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed. I have seen two hundred limping exhausted men come out of line-the survivors of a regiment of one thousand that went forward forty-eight hours before. I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of mothers and wives.

I

hate

WAR!.

12. I love Solitary too
VNV Nation - Solitary

Set me aflame and cast me free
Away you wretched world of tethers
Through the endless night and day
I have never wanted more.
Always thought that I would stand
Before the faceless name of Justice
Like some law unto myself
Like a child of God again.

And if rain brings winds of change
Let it rain on us forever
I have no doubts from what I've seen
I have never wanted more.
With this line I'll mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted more.

In this picture stands a man
Far away, alone and distant
Like a solitary field
In some nameless foreign land.
All around him points of light
Start to dim and cease transmitting
Shadows fell on futile games
And then there was nothing more.
Through the screams of falling steel
By the light of flares and wisdom
All the doubts I could not face
All this time I wanted more.
With a line I mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
To the gods whose names we've lost
And the names who gave in vain.

And if rain brings winds of change
Let it rain on us forever
I have no doubts from what I've seen
I have never wanted more.
With this line I'll mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted more.

Set me aflame and cast me free
Away you wretched world of tethers
Through the endless night and day
I have never wanted more.
Always thought that I would stand
Before the faceless name of Justice
Like some law unto myself
Like a child of God again.

And if rain brings winds of change
Let it rain on us forever
I have no doubts from what I've seen
I have never wanted more.
With this line I'll mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted more.

Sever the line to the guilty past
To the ones who brought us nothing
Spoke of futures brave and proud
And brought only hate and war.
Lined the roads with hollow praise
Marked the land with paper statues
Shadows fell on their futile ways
And then there was nothing more

I was a Goth/Industrial/Darkwave DJ until late last year when my club closed
I frequently spun Honour and Solitary

13. Solitary is good too
for some reason, it's not one of my favorites, although they call it their 'theme song'.

But Honour on the other hand.................is OF GOD. For real.

And about the goth/industrial bit........they are realy the only; band of that 'genre' that i like (this much). i believe they are a genre all in its own.

he makes amazing music and lyrics, i know that much. doesn't matter what kind of music one likes, he is just fucking amazing.
