"Cheshire Moon" - An Original Poem by ZW
(I just took some garbage out to the dumpster, and noticed the crescent moon hanging "upside down", like some sort of cosmic smile. So I felt a bit inspired.)

There is a Cheshire Moon
Perched in the Arizona Sky
Smiling upon our hopes and plans
Casting pale mocking light

The last crescent moon of winter
Says goodbye to us with a smile
It's silver sliver orb just hanging
Putting our dreams on trial

The wicked grinning moon
Imparting a sense of mirth
While we go about our business
As we have had since birth

The moon, it is indifferent
But with its crescent inverted
I must explain, I must tell you
It actually looks quite perverted

There is a Cheshire Moon
On the limb of the Mogollon Rim
May we never tire of its beauty
Or the mystery which lies within...

1. Very nice
but shouldn't there be a cat in there somewhere?

(really though - I got a good visual from it)

3. If the cat is invisible to Alice
It is invisible to me. :-)

(Besides, my real life cat is a handful as it is, the cute booger)

10. Yeah, there should be a cat somewhere, gazing at the moon.
I wish I could see it -- we've been socked in with coastal fog, day and night for days now.

I never saw the sun today, much less the moon tonight.

But I felt it, thanks to your lovely poeme de lune!

2. I like it
Nice personification of the mooon- most wouldn't chose to make it a mocking figure.

6. InDEED Sir....excellent prose m'Man.....I'll add...Thank the Moon...
Take a star from the sky
And buy a lovely dream
Thank the moon with a kiss
And sleep beneath its beam

Ride upon the waterfall
That takes you to that place
Where all your dreams come true
And your life is filled with grace

Fly on the wings of a dove
And fly above the trees
Look below where you once stood
And laugh with the blowing breeze

Swim with the mermaids
Who dance in the ocean blue
Splashing, flipping and jumping
With dolphins who swim there too

Before you climb into bed
Take a star and make a wish
And let the dream fill your head
As your life is filled with bliss

:pals:
