Now by flavored, I mean like a stout.

Earlier tonight I had a stoney creek vanilla porter. That was really good. The flavor was great. I also have tried the Sam Adams cherry wheat in the past. That was also good.

I have found a recent liking for dark beers. I used to find them bitter but I think they're not bad now.

Next time I go out, I'm trying a Guinness again. Maybe I'll actually like it.

2. Oh yes, that is good beer
There is a microbrew in Anchorage - Midnight Sun I believe it is called. They brew "Mammoth Stout" which is amazing. I hate dark beer and I enjoyed it.

Q: I thought a stout was a beer made with oat instead of barley, as a hefiweizen is a wheat beer. I'm not asking you particularly, but I don't want to post twice when one will get the job done.

4. Newcastle Brown Ale
Edited on Sat Mar-12-05 04:35 AM by baron j
I don't drink anymore, but when I did, I liked Newcastle. It is said to be made in a similar fashion to cola, so it is vaguely reminiscent of a pepsi.

5. There's a great beer in Aruba...
...called Balashi Beer that is brewed on the island. Its made from desalinized water, and is very crisp and pure tasting. Its like a Pilsner, but with less body. Its one of the freshest tasting beers I've had. Wish I could find it here in the states...

7. The only Sam Adams I like is their light. Try the Mexican Beer
Pacfico. Its a very good beer and has a cut of lime in the bottle.

8. Guinness is the ONLY beer
Next time you get a Guinness, make sure it's a draft. The first time I tried it, it was in a bottle, and it was just horrible. But Guinness on tap is truly the nectar of the gods.

10. GigaDittoes on Guinness.
Draft is the ONLY way to go; the traditional bottled Guinness is SHITE, but the NEW bottled formula is (scuze me while I whip this out) BRILLIANT! It is meant to be drunk from the bottle, further proof that the Irish can have us by the bollocks anytime they want to.

slainte!

11. Thanks for the info!
I've been the avoiding the bottled stuff for years, sticking only to draft or cans. Great to know it's safe to go back to the bottle!

13. Try Murphy's Irish Stout
You might like it...Comes in the pub cans like Guinness.

I don't know if you've tried an oatmeal stout, but one of my favorites is Samuel Smith. Nice and smooth...

There are all sorts of good stouts out there...Find a good beer shop and get to it!
