Ugghhh! Don't know what's worse ... being an ex-Niner fan and trying to give up my addiction, or a wannabe-Lions fan, and feeling even worse!

TO once again did not live up to expectations, dropping sitters again that would have made the difference.

2. Ugh ... is right.
I almost turned off the game at half time.

The boys in the booth were right, It appears like the teams traded uniforms at halftime.

The Niners absolutely dominated the second half (more so than Seattle in the first half). You could tell from the look on the Seattle bench that they were preparing for a big melt-down loss. They knew it was coming.

A lucky arm hit Hearst and knocked the ball loose.

That was pretty much the nail for the 9er coffin. I really don't have much hope for the rest of the season (as far as playoffs go). At this point I would be thrilled for a 500 season.

Cheers
Drifter

Our glory days are gone. Where's Montana, and Walsh, and Rice, and.... Oh well, at least for a few years, we were able to enjoy the greatest team ever assembled in the history of football. I guess that'll have to suffice. Time to get out the videos, and relive the era....

8. Agreed!
It was indeed a joyous experience to live in the Bay Area through the Niner's "golden age". Unfotunately, I moved to San Jose in '86 so success was all I ever saw for a number of years ... in fact ... in SF you EXPECT success.

Ronnie Lott, Roger Craig, Tom Rathman, sigh .........

13. I'd lived in SF for several years and paid no attention to pro football.
Then one Sunday, my wife and I happened to turn on a game, SF vs. Dallas, expecting the Niners (who at 2-2 had already matched their prior season's win total) to be slaughtered. Instead, they did the slaughtering (41-14). We bonded. They lost one more game that season and won the Superbowl. We saw The Catch on TV, and then minutes later, the streets in front of our third-floor walkup were packed with people and cars. Yeah, it was the start of a great ride, and it lasted a long time.

Well, it looks to be over. But remember: the year after winning that first Superbowl, the Niners had a losing season, losing twice as many games as they won. (Of course, in that strike-shortened season, they missed going to the playoffs by one game -- would have made it at 3-6; and they lost that game by having a field goal blocked.)

5. I've always said
My two favorite teams are the Bears and whoever plays against the 49'ers.

Don't get me wrong. I love SF but can't stand their football team ;)

7. My Four Teams Are, In Order:
NY Giants
Oakland Raiders
Cincinnati Bengals (yes, I admit it)
NY Jets

Historically, there have certainly been some good years, but this year is the pits.

11. I've been a Raider fan
In the good, old days of Kenny the Snake et al. But I live in Oakland, and I'm sick of Al Davis using the city treasury as his own personal slush fund. If you want the Raiders, you can have them. Please!
