OMG, My iPod broke!!! Help!!!
I had it on shuffle, left it plugged in for a few days...and now, it won't go back to the menu. It's stuck on shuffle! Argh! Any suggestions?

1. Do you have a reset?
A small hole somewhere, about paper-clip sized? I know some of the other ones (not iPods) have them, and I've fixed one before that way, albeit with a different problem.

2. still under warranty?
Go to the itunes store and get your warranty repair support. My kids itune went dead and a week later it had gone in for repairs and come back again and it didn't cost a dime.

4. Yes, it's still under warranty...
would like to avoid that particular pain in the @$$, but...well, I guess that's better than nothing. ;)

7. that's what I thought too

But it was really painless. Other than my kid was ipod-less for about 10 days total, it was just about zero effort on my part. I was actually impressed that Apple had put together this level of door to door service for a $300 consumer gadget.

9. One thing that sometimes works for PDAs
is to let them run until the battery is COMPLETELY discharged. Then put it back in the charger stand and give it a full charge.

But I'd be greatly surprised if it DIDN'T have a reset somewhere on it. But in the case of PDAs, sometimes even a reset won't work. The battery has to be completely discharged, or close to it.

plug it into the power source
hold down menu and play until the screen changes (6-8 seconds)

8. Have you tried doing a software reset?
On a mac, go to finder > Applications > Utilities > iPod Software Updater >doubleclick the most recent version. Plug in iPod to computer; hit restore button once the iPod icon comes up.

If that doesn't work, then you need to take it back. But this is what support is going to tell you to do, so you might as well do so first.

12. Heh,
Don't even get me started on my POS Dell or the extreme glitchiness of Microsoft Explorer.

14. Got it!
Finally figured out a way to reset it...it's an option under iPod in the Start menu. :) Thanks for your help, everyone! Now I'm off to update...this could take a while!
