Northeast DUer Weather Complaint Thread: Post Your Gripes Here!
I hate that we are having January cold when it should be 50 degrees out.

I hate that the streets suck to drive on because we had six hours of sleet and hail before it turned over to snow.

I hate that I haven't been able to retire my ugly but warm snow boots.

I almost want to move down South, but then I remember summer, fall, and how nice it is to live among liberals.

Your turn!

1. I am one of those... *horrors* Chicagoans....
but we have plenty to gripe about, too. Maybe one day!

2. We have had the 5th snowiest and 3rd coldest winter on record
in other words, it was like one of your average Chicago winters!

:hi:

Really, it's been awful. It was BRUTAL today!

4. The streets are a mess to walk or drive on
the plowing didn't make a difference after all that sleet and hail! x(

5. All right, here's how bad it was was when I got up for work...
SNOW DRIFTS!

Four feet inches of snow on one side of my car...four feet on the other.

Then my lock froze, couldn't full shut the door, so I had to drive to the gas station to get some de-icer, sliding back and forth all the way. With only one hand on the wheel since I needed the other to keep my car door from flinging open...

But at least i don't have to work for the next four days...so thats good...B-)

6. The fact that people cannot drive...
Is much more readily apparent when it's slippery out.

And, it's just TOO FUCKING COLD.

Thanks for listening.

8. Because we had so much sleet, the roads are a mess
I had to slam on my brakes because of a dumbass driver and almost skidded into him!

9. There's a road I have to drive on
Franklin Hill, Route 32, in case anyone is nearby...

Driving a freakin' minivan home last night, sliding all over the place trying to get up that hill, fighting like crazy not to go off the road, and people were fucking PASSING ME. Now, granted, there are two lanes there on a non-snowy day, but it was awful out, and there was traffic the other direction. I mean, come on! Have 60 seconds worth of patience, please. I miss my Subaru in this weather, a lot.

10. How come Northeast drivers are such jackasses?
My sister saw an SUV do a 360 yesterday. All cars and trucks are useless in an ice storm.

12. Habit?
Lack of long stretches of open road to flex those car muscles on?

I see a lot of SUVs racing by other people... I always wonder if they ever think about the danger they're putting other people in, driving like that. Meh.

14. I just noticed you live in Willimantic
I drive by there almost every week going to Southern CT, NY or NJ.

I always wondered what was off the Willington Willimantic exit, or what was in Ashford aside from the Ashford Motel.

18. Us!
Stop by for coffee sometime :) Seriously, there's not much in Willimantic, but it's starting to get some local, cool, stuff again. We now have a European Deli, a bakery, and the long-standing Willimantic Food Co-op, which is really cool.

7. it's too cold to wear my new shirt, except in the lounge
Seriously though, the roads were still crap this morning for the commute, and I about got blown off the freaking road by the gusts. It took me an hour and 15 min to get there, and then the power was out :( I could have gone home, but staying at work was waaay less stressful than going back out. And we get another helping Friday, yipee :evilfrown:

13. I agree with you
and everybody else in this thread. This weather sucks polar bears.

The little known codicil of global warming: it doesn't necessarily mean everything will be warmer all the time. What it really means is there's more energy in the system all the time. And the implications of that are, the variations get more extreme. We have more record-breaking winters ahead of us, and more summers where thousands of innocent elderly French people will die.

So remember to bitch-slap a carbon atom tomorrow.

23. Poor babies!
Greetings from "the great white north". It was a lovely +18 here today. Sunny, nice warm wind from the west. What you say? No such thing as global warming. Pishaw I say.

fyi, "normal" temps for this time of year here are around -5 w/snow. Hee.

Come to Calgary! We're warmer! (my new motto for the global warming era)

24. The weather is bipolar.
Monday, I was walking around town wearing a t-shirt with a open cotton shirt over it (with the sleeves rolled up).

Tuesday, the windchill was below zero, my town was frozen over, and I ended up essentially closing the store by myself because all the other staff members were scared of the roads.
