1. Not unless you need protection from creditors.

If you need food and shelter you need something other than a bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy will only fuck you up if you don't have an unsupportable mountain of debt and some sort of sheltered asset such as a house to protect.

4. If you can do a Chapter 13, try to do it

We did one over 15 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did. We were in pretty deep -- hubby had been out of work a few times and things really got away from us. Since we completed it, we've had great credit -- my latest score is 830! It's "hard work," but it was well worth. Not knowing your situation, I don't know if this will work for you, but if it will, talk to an attorney.
