2. No we aren't
DC isn't the North.

And he doesn't count as a CT idiot. He's a Texas idiot, through and through, even though he's a shitty ignorant fake one.

6. He lives in DC. And where one was born is irrelevant.
He is most definitely not a northerner.

At least, no one of any intelligence.

18. DC is the North if you live down here!
Believe it. I tell folks here I used to live in Virginia, and they say, "What did y'all do up North?"

It's all relative.

They only count you as a real one if youre born there. I am sorta joking in a way, I really dont id as a southerner but i will remind people firmly that Bush isnt one.

19. I was born there; San Antonio. But I rarely claim that anymore.
Being from, actually FROM, Texas is a pretty shopworn personal trait now. Between B*sh, Enron, the right-wing hell-hole of Dallas, and that open sewer known as Houston, being a native Texan ain't exactly a proud thing no more.

Call me a proud Washingtonian, and we'll shake on it. :-)

12. I LOVE THE NORTH TOO!!!
I can't imagine a better place to live than Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago, San Fran, or NY city. Within my city limits we have a big skyline and also natural waterfalls and forests. The people are great, the attitude is great, the summer and fall are spectacular (I love winter too, but some don't). There is a lake every couple of miles around here. The literacy, and education rates are higher, the divorce, violence, poverty and abuse rates are lower. I LOVE THE NORTH!

(yes, there are exceptions, but over all... NORTH!)

16. I love the North too
I live in the South, but I love driving down frosty Midwestern roads in the morning in January, when the ice crystals make ice fog that gleams in the early sun. The crunch of cold snow under my feet.

I love it in the fall, when combines cross seemingly endless fields of corn at night, their lights making them look like alien spaceships on the vast landscape.

The spring, hunting morel mushrooms.

The summer, rushing to get the first ripe tomatoes.

I love boating on the mighty Mississippi, lowering myself off the boat near the bank and working my way down a wing dam to dangle a leg off the edge and feel the power of the current it is turning back into the main channel.

Or rappeling at Giant City State Park in southern Illinois, or seeing the Devil's Kitchen in Shawnee National Forest, formed during the New Madrid earthquake in the 1800s.

I love Bears games at Chicago's Soldiers Field, sitting on the 50 yard line with a friend who gets those tickets every year free cuz his dad used to be a coach for the team. I love driving Lakeshore Drive at 3:30 a.m. on a Sunday after partying on Rush Street in the city all night, and feeling like I own the road because almost no one else is out.

I love St. Louis, and watching the old Cardinals play there. Touring the brewery, and the historic areas.

I love small town bars, where kids play at tables while their parents visit and drink, because it is a family place and not just a place to get blasted or picked up or in a fight.

I love birch forests, and eagle watching, and the Sears Tower.

I love the North.

25. I'd never live south of NYC.
We may have winter to deal with, but the freepers and neocons pretty much keep to themselves up here; because they know we progressives outnumber the fuck out of 'em. Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh!
