1. The first time that was on
I was pregnant with my third child. Very upsetting. So much so, I can't watch it. It was a great episode though.

6. Green misdiagnoses an ailment in a woman who is 8 1/2 months pregnant
and the episode is an hour-long war to save her and the baby. One survives, one does not, and at one point Green...well...it's bad.

The episode is 40 miles of bad road.

8. I know an nurse who worked in Labor and Delivery at
a hospital which treated high-risk pregancies. Every patient who had seen that episode mentioned it to the nurses- they had to get a copy to show the nurses what the patients were fearing... of course none of those patients would really have spent more than a couple of minutes in the ER.

Bradley Whitford is from Madison and he introduced Gore at the campaign rally in 2000: "I'm not really a presidential aide, but I play one on TV"!

15. I'm okay
But I ended up being held overnight in the hospital for a kidney biopsy and observation after that (SOP- they want to be sure you're not bleeding from your kidneys before they discharge you).

20. That's the thing
I'm a Labor and Delivery nurse and as a travel nurse, I've had the opportunity to work in many different and diverse settings but one thing that is an absolute at each of those facilities is that the ER will move heaven and earth to get pregnant people out of their ER and into L/D. ER docs and nurses are terrified of pregnancy. Hell, they can crack open a chest and do manual heart massage but are still terrified of dealing with pregnancy.

Therefore, while I haven't seen the episode in question, just the fact that she remained in the ER strains credibility with me.

9. After I lost my first baby...
...and while I was pregnant with Garrison, it seemed like every ER was about pregnancy loss. I would be crying like mad every week. My husband kept asking, "Why do you watch this show?"

13. I swear that practically every woman that has had a baby
has watched that episode and knows it well. Mention it on any parenting message board and everyone goes "Oh, yeah, that one. Seriously sad."

16. "Nightnurse", My S.O. Ran the L&D Nightshift for 12 years at a High Risk
facility...before getting "Booted Upstairs" last year.

I recall vividly watching that episode with her.
Her reaction was simple: 'Good TV' but she kept up a running critcal commentary concerning the "technical advisors" to that episode.

17. When I think of all the t.v. I've watched over the years, nothing
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 03:22 PM by Lindsey
stands out in my mind more than that episode on any show. People still remember and talk about it. The impact was enormous. It left an imprint that, to this day, I won't forget. One has to appreciate the incredble writing and acting. I realize some people say, "why watch?" I guess I do because it's all part of life, the good and the bad. It's real.
