Hey guys! I'm back! I got to spend the night in the hospital for observation purposes, but so far, everything seems to be stable, just a bit borderline. I had no idea you all would even think about me, let alone worry, so I'm touched and a bit embarassed that I didn't have my partner post an update.

13. Actually, it was my urine test

It indicated abnormal amounts of protein and some blood, so I had to get a kidney biopsy done. Because there's a good risk of bleeding, they keep you in the hospital for about 12 hours afterwards, and I get another follow-up visit to my rheumy this afternoon. But I'm feeling okay today, just a little like a human pin cushion.

16. They're worried about my kidneys

I have lupus and kidney failure is a big complication of that disease. I had an abnormal amount of protein in my urine, so I got a kidney biopsy. They kept me overnight because they were worried the biopsy site would bleed, but my kidneys seem to be in pretty good shape. I have to go back for a follow up with my rheumatologist, though.

24. I'm good, just a bit tired and poked out, so to speak

I have lupus, and they're concerned about my kidneys. On Friday I had some labs done and they had some anomalous results from my bloodwork and urinalysis (I'm not sure what it was about the bloodwork, but my urine showed a high protein count). I'm not sure when the results came back, but my doctor reviewed them on Tuesday afternoon and scheduled a kidney biopsy for me and had me come in. In retrospect, kidney failure can happen pretty fast, and if I had been in kidney failure, I could have been dead by the time he got my lap results, so now I'm kind of pissed. Anyway, I pretty much went straight from his office to the hospital, and got a kidney biopsy and was under observation all night for potential bleeding (related to the biopsy). The results showed some anomalies, but nothing too atypical for lupus. I got sent home with more pills (:puke:) and another follow-up appointment with my rheumy for today. I intend to ask some really hard questions about the time lag. That really upsets me.

Lupus is one of those diseases where there is so much that can go wrong. I'm glad you're OK, and I hope you feel better! :hug:

I was SEVERELY worried about you. I'm a nurse, and I've seen patients with lupus do poorly. And I've seen them do well, too! Thank God you're in the latter group...
