the best though is the pic of me after my abdominal infection (result of the appy burst), my drain was threaded into my abdomen by way of my butt cheek (NOT my butt! butt CHEEK) and I have a pic of me on my stomach with one cheek and the Dr. standing proudly by, he did save my life you know! It's a really strange story, strange treatment, and strange picture. :-)

I love the pics of my appendix, they are cool and gross.

Hmmmmm when I put pressure on my scar, I feel like theres something there, maybe someone left some pot roast in my side, that wold be bad. ITs cool, I feel a lot better.

31. probably the interior stitches. I assume you had the big cut and not

laproscopic? If your belly muscles were cut, there are a bunch of layers, so you will feel lots of scar tissue for a while. it will go away sooner or later. I had laproscopic, it was actually exploratory, since they weren't sure it was my appendix when they went in...they called it an 'atypical rupture'. I was lucky they could get it out thru the lapro incision. Only a tiny scar in my belly button and two dots on my lower abdomen.

what sucked really bad about the lapro. surgery was the gas used to blow up the abdominal cavity...the gas bubbles got into my shoulder joints, it was so very very painful waiting for them to dissapate. it still doesn't make sense to me, but that's how they described it to me.

Freaky, I had my outer stiches removed Thursday which was painless.

36. as i understand it, the stomach muscles have layers, and have to be

stitched in layers or they won't heal properly, (one of the reasons women have such a tough recovery after a c-section, the uterus is also a layered muscle) Those stitches are the type your body will absorb over time. No big whoop. Scar tissue will form there, but not much.

at least I think...that's what i remember my dr. telling me before surgery, he thought he might have to open me up if it was my appendix and wanted to prepare me. I was on a lot of drugs right after that, so I could be wrong.
