Anyone else think it was a campy classic?

4. Yes, and it wasn't as childish as you might have thought.
It managed to be clever at times. It wasn't at all like watching, say, Saved by the Bell.

Guess that shows how out of touch I am :) . The girls in my elementary and middle school sure soaked up those books, though.

8. Nothing like the books from what I hear.
It wasn't rip-roaring hilarious/campy. I don't want to sell it on that. It was mainly a guilty pleasure with some slightly redeeming features.

That, as well as Acapulco H.E.A.T. followed by a Lawrence Welk chaser.

Two and a half hours of stupid bliss every week.
