Funny exchange with my Republican professor today...
I've known the guy for about 3 years now and on occasion we have been known to get into some political debates. Anyway we were all standing around waiting for another class to leave our classroom and we were just bullshitting and killing time. Somehow our conversation drifted to Fahrenheit 9/11 (don't know why) and of course he goes off on a mini rant about that movie (I wasn't in the mood to debate so I just let him talk) I just mocked him by doing the blah blah blah hand motion. Finally he was like "what the hell is that guys name, I can't even remember it" I said "Michael Moore, Dr. S" and his reply "More like Michael... Asshole" At this point we all lost it because he said it like he was trying to make a pun off of his name but asshole was the best he could think of. My reply to this was "dude you have a friggen PhD and Michael Asshole was the best you could come up with" So of course the rest of the day, I would pass by him and say "more like Michael Asshole". Oh he will not live this one down for a while!

1. really he could not manage an alliteration?
Michael Moron, or Michael Meathead,
or say something like I wish we could have Michael Less.
Then again, there is no reason for a PhD to be a master of childish taunts. You might suggest he give substance a try.

2. I know thats what made it so funny...
my friend Jim was standing around with us and he commented on that very thing. He said "Is that the best you could come up with? Even Michael No-More would have been acceptable"

3. Jeez. What an idiot.
Hell, even Michael Whore or Michael Sore would have been half-acceptable, if lame.

4. Wait...a Repub professor?
According to the right wing big mouths, there are no Repub professors. Only long haired, commie, left wing, baby killing, 'murika hating, conspiratorial nut jobs. I'm soooo confused.

a blue state...gasp! He's actually socially liberal (pro-choice, pro-science, environment etc) but the gun control issue and the military keeps him voting Repuke, basically he likes to shoot at stuff.

He doesn't teach subjects that get political at all, biomechanics is a pretty neutral topic

8. how can one be a prof, yet be closed minded (ie a repukelican)?
ask your professor harebrain that....
in order to teach, to hand on knowledge, i assume a person must have absorbed the countless details (often contradictory details) that allowed the learned pedagogue to sift out the extraneous whilst incorporating that which was germane....iow a democratic, leftwing, liberal leaning, highly tolerant of flawed-thinking-in-others humane individual (like us here at DU :))....
ask the anal geezer that....
:)

Just 'cause a guy has an education doesn't mean he can't be an idiot.
