Computer problems
I'm going to post this again so the day crowd can see it and hopefully help me.

I'm trying to run "The Sims: Hot Date" on my laptop. It used to work fine, but now it does not. The Sims works fine without the expansion pack, but when I install the expansion pack it won't start up.

I believe this is because Hot Date supposedly does not support Windows NT and beyond. I run XP. However, it used to work, so why would it have suddenly stopped and continue to fail even after I've reinstalled it twice? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

2. I tried all those things.
The connection to the website for patches failed. I suppose I'll try again. My attempt to update DirectX ended in frustration when the Microsoft website asked me to turn my computer upside down and look at some sticker to get a conformation number. When it didn't work the first time I said to hell with it and hoped that wouldn't be the problem. After all, the DX drivers needed to run the game are on the CD, aren't they?

3. If worse comes to worse, uninstall all files related to your game.....
...which includes the Registry. make sure even after you uninstall the game that ALL references are gone (do a search for them).

Install game again and if it still doesn't work you're no worse off than when you started....
