Somebody please explain this strange behavior

Some of us bite into some Chinese food/Italian/whatever that has super-hot mustard/horseradish/hot peppers in it. Our eyes start tearing-up, our throat feels like it's on fire, our chests are hurting because our esophogus has been burnt. We pound on something nearby, drink some water and feel better.

But what I need to have explained is WHY DO we/I TAKE ANOTHER BITE, AND ANOTHER, AND ANOTHER???

4. The pain tastes so good.

I pile super-hot mustard on my Chinese food. My eyes tear up, my nose runs and my stomach rebels hours later, but I continue to eat that hot stuff. And when I eat Italian food, I layer it with the delicious red pepper flakes.
