Let's put together our All-Star Heaven Rock & Roll band
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 10:16 AM by LynneSin
Jesus, the liberal hippie Jew that he is, wants to put together the all-time best Rock & Roll band in Heaven.

Who's the lineup and why (or even individual suggestions).

Example:

Piano: Without a doubt Ray Charles
Songwriter: John Lennon
Lead Singer: Kurt Cobain (Morrison can back him up)
Lead Female Singer: Janis Joplin
Electric Guitar: Jimi Hendrix
Drums: John Bonham

Who is in your lineup or who we could add?

1. Hello Frank Zappa ...
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 10:12 AM by Drifter
He was a master of hiding incredibly complex music beneath absolutely absurd lyrics. He was also a guitar virtuoso, even though late in his career he despised playing.

He was a master at playing his band. He was able to get his players to do things that even they did not believe they could do.

Cheers
Drifter

2. Here's a few that I'd have on there
John Lee Hooker on electric guitar

Otis Redding as guest vocalist.

Mama Cass Elliot on backup vocals.

George Harrison on sitar and guitar.

Roy Orbison on backup vocals.

4. First off, who the fuck is "Keith" Cobain?
:silly:

Second, I'd go for either Roy Orbison or maybe Marvin Gaye in the lead singer category.

10. Hendrix couldn't shine Shepard's or Quine's shoes.
I mean, he could play a decent guitar, but he was SHIT in the shoeshine department.

They still played better than he did, though.

25. Gotta say. Quine could tear better than even Jimi, I agree there, however
For me it's hard to compare Shepard with JimiIMO

19. Glad to see that Ahern is getting some recognition.
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 10:43 AM by XNASA
Don't see his name come up very often.

And Quine is my guitar hero. The pairing of him and Richard Lloyd on those Matthew Sweet records is where I draw my guitar inspiration from.

an episode of "In search of".

No finer female singing voice on the planet. IMO. Except for maybe my daughter.

33. Opening band would be the Ramones....
with their "guest" drummer Keith Moon (he's in until either Tommy or Marky shows up)

Headliner would be the Jerry Garcia/John Bonham band called "Dead Zeppelin". Pig Pen would be on keys, of course, with Brian Jones on rhythm guitar. Hendrix would join them just for this event, and on bass would be JC Himself (they do call Him "the Rock", after all)
