Worst Movie Sequel Ever?
This the question on the radio this morning. I went with Freddie v. Jason...although there are so many to choose from.

1. The sequel to "The Exorcist" was pretty awful.
A sequel which really didn't need to be made...

2. Mannequin 2
The first film was so godawful; making a sequel was, well, bleah.

3. The King of all Bad Sequels: Highlander 2
So bad that it was ignored by all sequels and syndications

23. YES YES YES!!!
I don't even know why anyone bothers to ask this question given that the answer, Highlander 2, is SO self-evident. :)

39. It wasn't "Zoot", it was "Zeist"
I rememeber this clearly because it's the same name as a town in the Netherlands that I always fantasize about settling in someday.

Oh, the Horrah!

5. I would also add the third "Austin Powers" film.
That was dreadful beyond words. It was almost sad watching that. Mike Myers was trying to wring any laugh he could out of that.

...just rehashed the same thing again from the first movie

Looking back I cant even believe that I sat and watched Grease 2 all the way through... but you do crazy things when your 14 and in 'love'.

9. The risks of mixing religion and sci-fi. Plus, add Shatner's ego...
to the mix...and you've got a mess. "Star Trek V" was awful...some unexplained plot elements (Scottie and Uhura were in a relationship??), plus a questionable story line itself.

11. Freddy vs. Jason? As oppossed to all the other...
Freddy and/or Jason sequels? That movie was pretty bad but I don't recall it sullying any great legacy. And believe me I'm a horror fan.

17. Oh, I love it...and the first Freddy...
..and in fact I actually enjoy most of the sequels. It wasn't a dig at those movies by any means. For me good horror movies are great, but bad horror movies can be just as good. My post was more that I didn't think that Freddy vs. Jason was any better or worse than any of the previous sequels. The only thing I remember finding laughably absurd was that halfway through the movie they had one of the kids figure the whole thing out. "Hey, do you think Freddy brought Jason back to life?"

Although I caught Dream Warriors (was that Nightmare 3?) recently and it was much more dated than the rest.

18. It was horridly comedic. Way worse. My six year old was laughing.
They should have not billed it as horror, which makes it all the more worse in my opinion. :hi:

...That's why I wasn't nuts about that Shaun of the Dead movie that people raved about. But hey, like you said....opinions...we all got 'em.

...but I went in expecting it to be a good zombie/horror movie. Not so much.

15. Star Wars: Episode 1
How can you spend that much money and produce such a dud, especially when you are targeting a market that is emotionally vested in your premise and are hard to disappoint?

not that in itself it could have been an interesting movie... but not Star Wars. Was almost like watching a bad spin-off movie. VERY dissappointing.

I was at least able to finish Reloaded, and feel like I could still look forward to the final installment. But halfway through Revolutions I realized, much to my surprise, that I was too bored to care how it ended anymore.
