2. Depends...is it still under warranty?
If so, let Mercedes deal with it.

4. Not real good
YOu should change the oil every 5,000 to 7,500 miles at the max. Oil changes are inexpensive, don't take long and they are cheap insurance at maximizing the life of your engine

5. Define overdue.
That means you are 9,000 miles overdue. That can't be good, by anyone's standards. My Audi manual says to change the oil every 7,500 miles. Of course, oil shops here reccomend 3,000 miles, which is totally anal retentive. I have gone 6,000 miles before without a problem. What kind of car do you have, and is that 14,500km from your last oil change, or does it start from the point at which you were already overdue?

In other words, how many km since you last got it changed?

10. that kind of engine? If it's a V-32, you're fine.
if not, better get over to "The Great Canadian Oil Change"... it's cheap, just don't get upsold on blinker fluid and junk like that.

12. Kind of engine? Without going out to look in the manual, I'd have to say
metal.

I'll add this to my list of things that I really must stop putting off.

16. those are usually too cautious

Most cars you can easily drive twice as far on an oil change as they recommend without any effect, three times as far too. Four I would call stretching one's luck.

I'm guessing you're supposed to do it every 5,000 km. Depends on make, but 10,000 is about where I'd start worrying.

9. Have you been adding some oil at least?
All cars burn a little oil, the worse thing would be if it ran really low. I would get it changed as soon as you can. It won't cost more than $35 tops.

15. depends

Mostly on the level of oil you have left, really, and somewhat on the amount it has broken down. If the level is really low you might have engine bearings that are ground down, and that's not a repair you even want to think about.

Do get an oil change immediately and have them change the oil filter. (Buy the right kind yourself and literally hand them to the fellow doing the oil change. Mark it with a pen to make absolutely sure.) Check the oil level when they've given it back to you and make sure it's right at 'T' and that they've changed the filter.

Then- this is anal but minimizes the effects of what you've done, for a mere $30 or whatever it is- get the oil changed again a week or two, maybe 300 to 500 miles, later. That diminishes/dilutes out the remaining amount of sludged and burnt and broken down oil residues and metal particulates in the oil circulation system, the stuff that stayed after the first oil change.

18. How many times do I have to tell you kids!
Oil is the life's blood of your engine!

Do you think owning a car is a God given right?
Why don't you donate what's left of that car to the Salvation Army?

And don't use that synthetic shit.

19. I'd do it soon
I usually put off an oil change for every 5-6 thousand miles. The recommended is 3, but I haven't had any problems going a bit over.

But I'd say that when it's been around 9k + mi, it's past time. Go do it soon, before you end up having to pay much more to get stuff fixed.

I'd look for some coupons. Sometimes you can get an oil change for less than $25.

22. 57. It's still running?
It's got to be full of sludge. The best thing you can do for an engine is change the oil every 3 thousand miles. The rest is gravy...kind of like the oil in your car right now. ;)
