Has anyone here ever heard of (watched) Brini Maxwell?
Edited on Mon Mar-07-05 04:43 PM by underpants
I was flipping around the channels this weekend and ran across her show on the Style network. I am not sure what to make of it-at first I thought it was a guy in grag but I see that no indeed she is a woman.

You've never seen a domestic goddess like this. Style Network introduces the insouciant Brini (rhymes with "teeny"), host of The Brini Maxwell Show, Thursdays at 9 p.m. She's a self-described "child prodigy in the area of domestic science," whose home and fashion tips are not only fun but guaranteed to be 100-percent user-friendly.

Brini, who already has a cult following in Manhattan, offers her unique '60s-inspired take on such head-scratchers as what to pack for a trip, how to get smudges off your linoleum (Hint: A dab of lighter fluid does the trick) and more. Each half-hour show is packed with dozens of helpful hints.

So, put on your pearls (Brini's idol is that impeccable TV housewife Donna Reed), pull out a notepad and let Brini enlighten you in her over-the-top way. It's gonna be a wild whirl through the most spic-'n'-span half hour on TV.

1. I flipped to it one day by accident as well.
I just sat and stared. It's quite strange but entertaining all the same.

4. Yes that is exactly what I did
For about 10 minutes then I couldn't take anymore. I wasn't repulsed (not the sex thing) nor was it a heightened sense of excitement....I can't even think of the words to describe what was going on my head.

VERY weird (not that there's anything .....)

I love the retro-looking decor and styles she goes with. "Why didn't you think of that?"

But no way was she born a woman. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

3. Brini is a guy in drag. (Can't remember his real name, though.)
I decided I liked the attitude of the show when they were doing a craft project and among the list of items needed were "opposable thumbs."

5. I KNEW IT!
Years from now, when we look back on the Stewart era, it will be as identifiable as art deco or mid-century modern, says Brini Maxwell, the Style network's drag-queen Martha for budget living. "This period of time will be defined by her visually," Maxwell says. "She created such an amazing aesthetic and packaged it so beautifully that it is one of the most recognizable aspects of the '90s, the Aughts and beyond."
