How to cook a steak?
My sister gave me a tenderized T-bone. Alton Brown of the Food network says to seer it on both sides for a couple of minutes in a really hot cast iron skillet, and then put the skillet and steak in a 500 degree oven for five minutes, or so (if I remember correctly).

Is this good? Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Floog

1. That's pretty close to what I do.
Sear it on the cast iron skillet (don't press down on it while you're doing it or you will lose the juices).

Then I put it under the broiler for about 3 minutes per side.

While that's under the broiler, I use the drippings in the skillet to make a wine reduction sauce. Yum!

3. Floog that sounds perfect!
Alton also says to let it sit for 5 minutes (something like that) to let the juices flow back out into the outer edges of the steak.

5. If you must
But searing it over hot wood coals is SO much better. Then move to slightly cooler section of grill and finish cooking about 5-6 minutes per side, depending on thickness (full inch or more). Serve with pinto beans, roasted green chilis (same fire) a baked spud and or good tortillas. mmmmmmmm

salad for desert - ha ha

13. I'm guessing you like your steak WELL done?
If it's a good cut, I usually just put on a little salt and pepper.

14. I'm not that picky
Well done is okay with me, but so is a little pink.

My sister put some Adolph's, or something, on this steak and then froze it. ;(

But oh well I'll see what I can do with it. Hey, it was free!
