1. No, never liked him...especially hate that quirky thing he does with his..
head...that kind of side to side thing he does. Also hated his stupid dorito commercials.

HIs show PALES in comparison to Letterman. And he can never hold a candle to Johnny Carson.

10. What you said.
I've never liked him either. I remember when he took over the show and I just couldn't believe they picked him.

9. The best part about "Headlines"
is that you can enjoy it with the sound off. It's actually better that way since you don't have to listen to Jay explain why each one is funny.

30. I'll agree with Headlines ...
Edited on Sun Oct-12-03 06:59 AM by Drifter
I used to split pretty even with Letterman (if I'm up that late). It really depends on who is on.

Since Leno has firmly place his head up Arnolds ass, I make an effort to ensure I never see his show.

Letterman rocks (even when he throws in the occasional Clinton joke).

Cheers

3. Well, I wouldn't turn down his car collection
His choice of restaurants in Chicago leaves much to be desired.

Guess the only thing I like about the guy is his cars. ;-)

he's a harley guy, from what I understand. I would like to have them, sell them, and then pay off my student loans.

5. Lately I've been wanting to punch him in the face
But before that, I never cared one way or the other. I'm a morning person, so I'm rarely up late enough for his show.

His Der Gropenfuhrer adulation makes me want to :puke:

8. I
like his "headlines" section and some other bits that he does.

Letterman, Conan and Jon Stewart are far better.

Pity Letterman gets a 0230 showing here which seems to jump about the timeline and Leno gets a regular 2200 slot. Then again conan only has 2 eps per week and I only get to see the "Global Edition" of The Daily Show.

Oh well.

Leno's and Letterman's shows only last 50 (inc ad breaks)mins here. Is that the same over there or are the ad breaks larger?

14. I used to
but not anymore. His jokes are too predictable and unfunny. Rule of thumb - when you can sense the punch line coming up, the comedian is not funny. Letterman is way better, but his monologue is so much shorter.

21. I liked him okay in his stand-up days,
but he hasn't impressed me much since he became Carson's permanent fill in, and I sure didn't like that Letterman got passed over for the Tonight show in favor of him.

19. Conan O'Brian has always been better than him
Conan is funnier, smarter, put's together a better show and has more interesting guest most of the time. Leno has a bigger budget that's the only thing Leno has over Conan.

24. I LOVE headlines
Also, the jaywalking part shows one reason why the Repukes are so successful in their lies.

Otherwise, his current events jokes are sometimes funny, sometimes bombs. The longer he's on, the more bombs he has.

His interview style isn't very entertaining.

26. Never liked Leno
I did like Johnny Carson but I refused to even consider watching after Leno stepped in because of the screw job the producers gave Letterman over that deal. Letterman was clearly the heir apparent to the Tonight Show.

27. I have
always thought Jay Leno was and is mean spirited to get a laugh. Conan and Dave at least find humor in their jest on public figures. Maybe I'm prejudiced. Could it be East Coast vs West Coast humor???

32. Can't stand Leno
The only thing I like about his show is the newspaper misprints. Those are funny.

Otherwise, he's plain obnoxious. He interrupts people, misunderstands them and is just plain rude. I get the impression that the guests are there as props for him to show off. Blech. Give me Letterman, Conan, or John Daly any day.

Johnny Depp seemed so uncomfortable with him this summer, it was almost painful to watch.

33. I like Leno, and I think he's funny.
And I'm really getting amazingly tired of all the Leno-bashing around these parts.

Jay Leno is married to an amazingly progressive Democrat and he and his wife have given vast amounts of money to the Democrats in California.

Jay himself has stated many times for the record that he's a political independent. He makes his living poking fun of topical issues. For every Clinton joke he tells, I read myriad complaint in this forum, but his frequent and copious pokes at the other side of the political fence go unremarked, unnoticed and often their existence is denied.

The Clinton jokes still get laughs. Jokes at the expense of Bush, on the other hand, a fair amount of the public doesn't even snicker at.

Think of it this way, if you were a computer salesman and you sold both Macs and Windows Machines, - wouldn't you sell the Windows machines the public wanted, even if you personally thought that Windows was a crappy operating system prone to failure?

politically. I think he's plain rude, especially interrupting others. Sorry, personal pet peeve of mine. But he does it to the point where I don't like to watch him.

35. Headlines Are Funny (But....)
Those are "written" for him... sent in by viewers... and his "off-the-cuff" comments are also prepared in advance by his writing staff.

In short, the comedy is not spontaneous. He's just the delivery-man.

I'd much rather have seen JOAN RIVERS take over for Johnny.

39. Jay Leno's voice is like nails on a chalkboard
Sorry, I've loved Letterman since I was 10. And Conan. He's smarter and funnier than Jay by a mile. So no, I don't really think Leno's funny. I haven't watched his show in years.
