Why do some people just lay in wait, like a starved vulture waiting for any little nibble they can jump on?

many times, you'll find that these wicked deviants are alcoholics or other substance abusers. They "play" with people to hide their own feelings of shame and failure.

Others are just arrogant fucks who need to be knocked down a peg or two. This, in my limited experience, always happens to them one day, and they are usually clueless because they don't realize all their bad karma/sarcasm/self-centeredness has a price.

Some never really graduated from high school. Trying to recapture the popularity of their youth ( or make up for the lack of it) they group up with each other like lemmings. They never realize how childish or ill-adjusted they are, because they get the payoff of being "in" with the "right crowd."
This further bolsters their need to be underhanded and cruel.

Whatever the reason, here's a :hug: and be thankful for true friends and good folks.
