Oasis is more democratic than Paul McCartney.
Edited on Wed Mar-02-05 12:56 PM by LoZoccolo
Compare these two lyrics.

The first is "Go Let It Out" by Oasis.

Is it any wonder why princes and kings
Are clowns that caper in their sawdust rings
While ordinary people who are like you and me
We're the keepers of their destiny

The second is "Listen What The Man Says" by Paul McCartney & Wings:

You better listen what the man says.

I think this is obvious.

Score one for Oasis.

2. McCartney - Give Ireland Back to the Irish
Give ireland back to the irish
Don’t make them have to take it away
Give ireland back to the irish
Make ireland irish today
Great britian you are tremendous
And nobody knows like me
But really what are you doin’
In the land across the sea

Tell me how would you like it
If on your way to work
You were stopped by irish soliders
Would you lie down do nothing
Would you give in, or go berserk

Give ireland back to the irish
Don’t make them have to take it away
Give ireland back to the irish
Make ireland irish today

Great britian and all the people
Say that all people must be free
Meanwhile back in ireland
There’s a man who looks like me

And he dreams of God and country
And he’s feeling really bad
And he’s sitting in a prison
Should he lie down do nothing
Should give in or go mad

Give ireland back to the irish
Don’t make them have to take it away
Give ireland back to the irish
Make ireland irish today

Give ireland back to the irish
Don’t make them have to take it away
Give ireland back to the irish
Make ireland irish today

don't you listen what the man says...

?

and on edit: why are you so fixated on pitting the beatles against Oasis? Perhaps you should try comparing them to someone more on their level... say Maroon 5.

13. BWAAHAAHAAHAA!
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1451755/20020111/story.jhtml

Considering the Black Crowes' current "hiatus," it leads us to ponder the fate of another sibling band, and a group with whom the Crowes mounted one of their final tours: Oasis.

Fronted by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, the Brit-rock outfit has also endured a rather precipitous drop-off in sales with its two most recent releases, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (189,000 copies sold to date) and the double-live disc Familiar to Millions (64,000), both of which were issued in 2000. Those numbers indicate that Oasis' sales have "dried up" significantly as compared to the figures posted by the group's first three albums, 1994's Definitely Maybe (713,000 copies sold), 1995's (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (3.49 million) and 1997's Be Here Now (963,000). As the late George Harrison once sang, "All things must pass," y'know?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/1028248.stm

The album of 27 songs has been outselling Westlife, the current darlings of the pre-teen market, and Oasis, who once saw themselves as the Fab Four's successors.
By Friday, Oasis's album had only amassed 40,629 sales and entered the chart on Sunday at number five.

Not gulped like Orange Crush. Various pop stars which you would not like have huge run-ups in sales on the week of release as well.

Here's some more.

The Beatles have 179 Gold and Platinum discs.

Oasis have 10.

Game, set and match to the Beatles.

22. How could the Beatles qualify for an award that did not exist until 1976?
http://www.riaa.com/gp/history/default.asp

Fueled in part by the disco craze, the volume of music sales and Gold awards skyrocketed by the mid-1970s, prompting the RIAA® to introduce the Platinum® award category in 1976, for sales of one million albums. By the mid-1980s, the recording industry was enjoying another boom, this time from the introduction of the CD, and the RIAA® instituted Multi-Platinum™ awards for sales of 2 million or more.

...why don't they have any of those awards, and Oasis has five.

I am sticking with raw facts and statistics, rather than asking if a tree fell in the woods, etcetera.

If you had, you'd have found that the Beatles have many more than five Platinum discs, including one award for nineteen-times-platinum in the US. The most Oasis ever managed was four-times-platinum in the US.

Another point for the Beatles. Are you keeping score?

29. Five diamond albums, though,
which signify US sales of 10 million or more.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - 11 million copies sold
The Beatles (White Album) - 19 million copies sold
Abbey Road - 12 million copies sold
The Beatles 1967-1970 - 15 million copies sold
The Beatles 1963-1966 - 15 million copies sold

Funny. There are diamond albums dating from as late as 2003, but not one Oasis album.

http://www.mnet.ne.jp/~hbr/us10mal.htm

And as for platinum albums, even Ringo as a solo artist managed to grab a platinum album. Paul, John, and George too.

The Beatles learned a lot from Badfinger because their later albums were much better than their extremely crappy early albums.

23. Oasis also has more staying power than the Beatles
Not only have the Beatles broken up, half of them are dead. Doesn't sound like such a great band to me.

And I hear that Oasis is touring this summer. I doubt you'll be seeing the Beatles on the road anytime soon.

Here's Macca

Big boys bickering, that's what they're doing everyday.

Guess while they're betting on the track, they're trying to win your money back.
All of the taxes that you paid went to fund the masquerade.
