If you have more than one dog
do you go through this? I let one dog out, the other doesn't want to go. As soon as the other dog returns in the house, the other wants out, than the dog that just returned in the house decided he/she wants to go back outdoors. This goes on for about ten minutes. I've gotten to the point where they both are staying outdoors until I see their mugs wanting to come back in the house. Or, one will scratch on the door to come in the house, I go to the door, and the dog turns around to walk around the yard again. Yikes!

The other thing is while I am getting dressed to run some errands I leave my yard door open so my babes are able to go outdoors before I leave. They don't do this until I'm ready to leave, then my one female runs to the yard door and wants to go outside. Okay, I let her out, but have a difficult time getting her to come back in as she just wants to sit there or walks way back behind the house where it takes her forever to return back. If I leave her outside and do my errands she is barking loudly.

It is almost like she resents me going anyplace and will do anything for me not to leave.

1. Our big problem is when it's time to pet them....
One wants to be in my lap...but so does the other...so one barks at the door (ooohhh STRANGER DANGER)...the other jumps down and barks at the door...and one jumps in my lap....over and over and over again. (and we thought we were being smart, two dogs to keep each other company :silly:)

3. Duh!
My Siamese cat acts up to keep me from leaving the condo. He will run out in the hall and up the stairs until I chase him down or angrily curse in his language (Mrrrrrowwwwwww!) Sometimes I have to get the broom to get him from the stairway. This little cat is so devoted to me that he always sits on my shoulder or arm throughout the day when I'm home. Rarely does he leave me. At night he snuggles up against me under the blankets.

4. that Is EXACTLY What She Is Doing!!
she is trying, in any way she can...to prevent you from leaving.

See it as a sign of her love for you.

My dog jumps up on my leg, wraps both front legs around me, and hangs on tihgt..."Mommy, don't leave me!!"

Or she will go in the bedroom and jump on the bed and stay there...knowing I will not leave until she is out of the bedroom, and the door closed. Or she will roll over on her back in my path to block me from getting out of the house.

efficiently. The other adoptee, a chihuahua is pretty good. The first one, Toro (not adopted, but bought from a litter), is the real problem. He's a whiner. He says he wants to go out, then he walks away as I open the door. Among other things.

sounds familiar. How many times have I walked to the door to let one out and they go back to their sleeping area.

But, if I leave the room, just to get a bottle of water out of the fridge, there they are behind.

No privacy in the bathroom, but I don't mind. Just think it is funny.

They were never this was before I retired.

They are so funny now and so worried that I am leaving. As soon as I open my garage door, they are at the entrance barking. When I walk in the house, my one dog follows me around and barks and barks. I feel like I am being scolded for leaving.

6. All the freakin' time!!!
lately, they both stand at the door, wanting to go out. I open the door, and they both go out, then the female comes right back in, leaving the male outside by itself.

Then the male wants to come back in because he's "lonely".

They both end up inside wondering what the hell that was all about.
