Any Adobe Acrobat Experts?
I have Acrobat 5.0 and it is driving me mad.

I am exporting a file from PageMaker 7.02 and it creates the image, BUT it takes the images, splits it in to, stretches the image to fir the page, then overlays the second half over the first.

Any suggestions?

1. I assume you've used 5.0 successfully in the past?
I had trouble when I upgraded to 5.0 so I went back to using 4.0. Are you using Distiller?

2. You need to
convert the files using Adobe Distiller or print to PDF rather than export from Pagemaker if you can. I worked with Indesign last year and it saved wonderfully. Pagemaker should integrate just as easily. Learn how to use distiller, it should be in the Acrobat folder. Open up the Distiller program and convert the pagemaker file.

Or try the print to PDF option (I had that in Indesign, not sure about Pagemaker).

3. Not sure if I can help without seeing the problem.

What does the original look like? Could the page coding (formatting instructions) be the cause just like the coding in Word Documents can screw up HTML?

If you are on OSX you can take any document, hit print, then save as PDF.

on edit
sounds like print to PDF is the same thing.

4. Sounds like something in your Acrobat preferences
Each mode of making a PDF with Distiller (screen, web, print and press) refers to the settings in Acrobat. If anything is out of whack in there, it could be causing the problems you're experiencing.

If you're unable to find anything obvious in the preferences, you might get around the problem by changing which type of PDF you make - for instance, changing from 'web' to 'print.'

I had a similar problem recently. I was making a PDF from inside Quark and had chosen a specific imagesetter driver from the pull-down. It totally screwed up my PDF. I solved it by changing back to 'generic imagesetter.'
