Mission accomplished.

7. The point is that it wasn't a celebration
More like an acknowledgement of the natural order. It would be like celebrating an ocean. It just IS....;-)

15. Aww cute
You buy a team and act like the rest of the world are losers. Heart and soul over dollars...even if they lose..the sox win.

19. Even if they BUY a team?
I'd pay attention if I were you. The Red Sox "bought" the best pitcher and hitter in the league at the time they were available. Their payroll is fifth highest in the league. Spare me.

22. Fifth highest now, but th Yankees have had the highest payroll FOR YEARS
Don't get your hopes up-Pedro has never lost in the post-season and the Sox can hit Clemens.

14. You missed it completely
Well, not completely. You're right on with the switch from "th" to "d"
(there to dare). That's an old transformation common to a bunch of American dialects. I believe it is referred to as 'softening" in linguistics. Everything else is off. It's not the changed pronunciation so much as the fact that everything melds together. It's a speed thing:

WenuHavah'onetime'thoh. Al - you know Al? AllydaLid? - yeah'eesmy cousin. 'eewenupdare.

17. The real battle begins Saturday
Seriously, that game is going to be made of the stuff of biblical epics.
The former Red Sox versus the current "rocket" of the Sox staff? Does it get better than this?
On a serious note:
DO NOT GET COCKY YANKEE FANS. Remain humble and pray often to the Babe.

18. Pedro v. Rocket =
The Battle of the Titans . . . if they're both on their game (and I assume they will be), this could be a classic battle . . . on another note, the emergence of Contraras (sp?) as a setup reliever fills a season-long void for the Bombers . . . couldn't have come at a better time . . .

I like the Sox, too, but . . . Yanks in six (maybe seven) . . . :)

20. Normally I wouldn't like NY teams, but..
my grandmother was a big Yankees fan, and I'm rooting for them. I have great respect for their history, too. A winning and classy history.

21. Real Coup for the Sox, Sauerbeck was, eh?
Rocket Versus Pedro up next...in Fenway. Wonder if Bucky Dent will be on hand?

No truth to the rumor Bill Buckner is going to be invited to drop the first ball tomorrow....
