1. Although I never gave my wife an engagement ring
the other two are spot on. Especially the last one.

3. Not my marriage.
We've actually had many rings, though. My first wedding set mysteriously disappeared. The only suspect was a cat who wasn't talking.

The diamond fell out of the engagement ring portion of my replacement wedding set last summer. For our anniversary, my husband bought me a new wedding ring, which I now wear by itself without an engagement ring.

Suffering? Nah. We go pretty easy on each other. ;)

4. marriage is actually cool
you get to live with someone that you like and love, and you have a lot of fun growing together. You have to deal with different financial issues and child-rearing can certainly be a challenge and a delight, but I can honestly say my marriage has never involved "suffering." Nor have I seen it as the "ball and chain" or any of those negative cliches.

no engagement ring. And a simple, handmade silver wedding ring for me.

:)

7. What do you do with your wedding ring after a divorce?
I have mine tucked away, and being a guy, it's not like I've got a rock or anything. It appraised for about $1k, doubt I could sell it for anything.

Anyone do anything interesting with theirs?

10. Nope.
Happy as a pig in shit with mine. She's my best friend.

Of course, it does get difficult. You need to take a positive attitude towards marriage to make it work, and from reading many of your posts it doesn't look like you'd enjoy being married.

14. I can vouch for him.
Been There, Done That, got the scars, bruises and the coffee cup (well, I got it thrown at me, anyway...)

"No, Master! Mustn't go THAT way! That way leads to the Dark lord!"
"So? I had stepkids. What's *HE* got that's worse?"

16. I can't wait for Doug and I to get married. Of course, I'l have to move..
to Canada first. Since it will be about 50 fucking years before gay marriage is legalized in this country....

Oh well.

17. well Terry
wish you could get married here in the good old US of A. In my view of reality, it wouldn't be a big deal, people would just be happy for you. :) Maybe someday soon.
