So I'm sitting watching TV with my teen and her cat comes into the room and poops in front of us. This is a new behavior. Her litter box is basically clean, she was petted this morning as always, and she seems healthy.
Strange cat. She spent her first few years scared to death here. Now she thinks she's in charge. This one is a new behavior. My daughter thinks she's mad at her. She kicked her (the cat) out of her room because she ate her papers. Both happen all the time so I doubt that's the reason. And for another question...this cat eats both my daughters' homework. Never tried for any paper of my husband's or mine.
My cat used to do this - one particularly severe episode (we left him alone for 2-3 weeks in a new house, with a strange neighbor to feed/water/scoop) culminated in him pooping on me while we slept. From then on - with his point made - he was back in the litter box.
