Tinfoil Hat Sports Question
The ratings for a Sox Cubs series will clearly be tremendously higher than Yankees Marlins.

I'm assuming the series is on Fox. Do you put it past Ruppert Murdoch to try and influence the outcome?

1. wouldnt surprise me if yankees fans were thinking that way
somehow they feel that the only way they can possibly lose is if the thing is rigged. To Yankees fans: get over it, it was a homerun, and not only that but it was only ONE run. The final was 5-2 you would have lost either way.

2. Speaking as a Bostonian
I already know that the Sox are doomed--its is just a matter of how far it will go.

The fate of the Red Sox cannot be fixed, since it is written in the stars.

3. No
I remember two years ago there was whiseprings of things being set up for the Yankees to win because of NYC and the emotionalism of 9-11.

The Arizona Diamondbacks quashed that rumor in no time.

Fox had the playoffs then too.

All of the teams are playing to win, noone is rolling over for the Cubs and Sox, which everyone agrees would be an incredible Series.

14. Exactly
By the way Yankees/Cubs would also be an incredible series....remember Ruth's called shot?

(Incidentally, Ruth''s home run off Charlie Root was also the first fair ball ever hit out of Wrigley in center. And Lou Gehrig homered while the fans were still buzzing over the Babe.)

4. No way
Ruppert Murdoch is an evil man, but if that happened and it was revealed to people, he'd be dead.
Why assume the WS being between the Sox/Cubs or yanks/marlins? What about Yanks/Cubs? Sox/Marlines?
There's only a 25% chance of having a Sox/Cubs series.

13. That's true- Chicago/NYC are 2 of the biggest TV markets
and Hillary would be terminally conflicted being a supposed fan of both.

did you happen to see the bias officiating of the BoSux / Athletics series once they got to Boston ?

There should have never been a game 4.

The interference (non)calls (one against Oakland, and a non-call against Boston), were ridiculous.

Chavez was called with interferring with base runner returning to third. Boston third baseman was not called interference with the Oakland runner when he was heading home.

The argument was that the Boston player was making a play (when actually the ball was being thrown home), and Oakland was not (when it is clear that he was playing the ball being thrown to him).

I am very dissapointed that the A's players did not continue playing and worry about the calls later.

Cheers
Drifter

9. The umpiring was terrible
I didn't see all the games, but from what I saw, the home plate umpire's strike zone seemed to change nearly every inning- to me, that's the greatest sin of an umpire.
Yeah, I was suprised to see Chavez not challange teh call against him that much, though to be honest, he should've tagged home. Even if you're not sure, touch it!!

10. This is NOT a matter of human action--it is FATE...
Perhaps the time has come for Boston fans to SUFFER again.

If so, nothing can stand in the way or our blighted destiny.

11. on the other hand
The calls against the Cubs were absurd, in Atlanta AND Chicago!

I think the unps are biased only on the side of incompetence, and possibly the Yankees. :-)

12. Just the opposite
Yankees/Cubs would be the highest draw...Sox/Marlins the lowest.

Here are the TV markets by size...note #1 and #3....
