1. I asked a friend a trick question...
...I asked him if the oil in Iran belongs to us, or Europe.

He replied that it was our oil.

9. I enjoy talking about Iran
They start to bitch about the A-rabs and don't quite get what's wrong with that. :dunce:

I've had a few really entertaining exchanges here on DU before the person got tombstoned. Do those count?

3. At the inauguration
A friend had a 'Bush Lied Thousands Died' sign, and this dipshit came storming up and yelled, "Well, what do you think about 'Ay-Rabs Flied, Thousands Died'?"

My response:

"I think it's bad grammar."

Flied?

That wouldn't have the effect he was looking for, I suppose.

14. LOL
That's pretty funny. I've noticed when listening to the freepers on a show on AAR or in a story like that when the freepers get really pissed off they do some silly mistake like that to make them look even more dumb. LOL.

6. "Global Warming is Bullshit!" my sister-in-law said. No room for
discussion, though. "Michael Crichton wrote a book you know." was her explanation of her beliefs. How could I possibly come up with an arguement to that? Next thing, she'll try to tell me that the Bible is, every word, the absolute unencumbered word of God.

10. the time the guy behind the Long John Silvers counter
of all places, decided to lecture me about Clinton and Democrats a few years back - apparently he was the head of the local Reps in that area. Never been lectured about politics in a fast food joint before. Boy, he wished he hadn't! He got chapter and verse from me.

15. You're going to love this. She wants to be a librarian! ...
And they tell everyone that she's a writer, and she "reads" constantly. She told me on Nov. 2nd that she'd voted Repug, because she's a CAPITALIST, and that's the only thing that works! Told me a thing or two.

18. Hmm, now there's a position of power
especially since the Govt can NOW legally look at the list of books you checked out . . .

Here's some fun - start a reading list under an "assumed name" (pick one out of the Letters to the Editor - if they bash Socialism, then they probably don't frequent the local public library). Include the following:

Rush Limbaugh
G. Gordon Liddy
Sean Hannitty
Ann Coulter
(and so on)

Keep them out, renewing each at least once.

Then walk off with a Jock Sturges or Sally Mann, and anything that defends NAMBLA, never renewing or returning . . .

23. We have to show our drivers licenses to get the library card..
Years ago we switched to paying for anything that might be interesting to those govt. types, with cash only. Untraceable. I'd never use the library for anything remotely controversial. I'm sure that all 60,000 DU members are regularly scrutinized, and I hope they're having a good time wasting our money doing it. But I would love to do what you suggest. Have to think about that.

13. I once was at this Town Hall meeting and these people who
were psychotic libertarians were trying to tell me that the government should be tiny and that anything they did was a violation of the consitution. I responded with "But almost all non-military programs are in fact outgrowths of Article 1 Section 8 Paragraph 1 of the Consitution. Here look at my copy of the Consitution" pulling it out. They then said they had to go to talk to some other folks.

16. I was asked how much protein was in cheesesticks
Ignorant of my mentioning the cheesesticks had 30 grams of fat, Ms Freeper proceeded to ask the protein question.

Ignorant of all Bush's downsides, Ms Freeper proceeded to cast her vote for Bush because he was "Pro Life".

19. A patient I had one day that I made the mistake of talking to
about politics. He was talking about the war in Iraq, grinned and said "Ain't it great we gotta Preznit who ain't gonna run from th'war?"

:wow:

Well, I took the bait and tried to introduce him to my little friend, Reality. Didn't work. We talked about gay marriage and he said "Look what that's doing in Canada; Their society imploded." He couldn't quite explain what "imploded" meant, but it doesn't matter.

Deluded m****rf****r.

that Bush and Cheney were just victims of a malicious slander campaign and that they cannot do anything to change the way the world, in general, and the US is run.
I asked him why he voted for Bush. He told me to "suck it".

22. When I tried to have discussion with one...
And I was dismissing his arguments point by point, he used the "Why would you worry your pretty little head about such matters?" line of crap. I guess logic and discourse wasn't possible for him, so it turns on my physical self.

Ever feel completely and utterly marginalized? :nuke:

Me: Bush is not my president.

It: Oh, really. I can't wait to hear this. This will be interesting.

Freepthing then proceeded not to listen to any thing I had to say, but instead went on a Rush Limpwadesque rant abour Clinton's penis. This was in 2003

President we've ever had!"

I looked at him and said, "Uh... you do know you're in mixed company, don't you?". And promptly walked far, far away.

26. an in-law
blamed Clinton for all the outsourcing problems and incorrectly stated that Clinton had signed NAFTA. I corrected him' pointing out that Poppy Bush signed NAFTA into law, which he refused to believe.

I walked into my office, sat down and found the proof on the internet, printed it, walked back out and handed it to him and said "read this".

After he read it, he shook his head and just like a child said,"nuh-uh, this ain't right. I KNOW Clinton signed NAFTA!"

What do you do?

28. This idgit was more of an extreme Libertarian
but he felt that the government should rid itself of all social services, and let the free market take care of it - and everything else. He also thought the gov should privatize everything including the department of highways and the military, and the government should deal with only economic interests.

He also said that the people of 'old' Europe were a bunch of lazy asses who expected everything to be free from cradle to grave, and that wasn't the way forward for democracy.

No surprise that he supported the war, and really thought that it would teach the surrounding nations a 'lesson'.

What a wingnut... :scared:
